Your Go-To Winter Wedding Wardrobe
Hello, lovelies! I hope that you’re having a wonderful week so far? Today we’re putting our glad rags on to talk wedding guest winter wardrobes. Oh, what a wonderful job we have!
This time of year can be tricky for the fashion-conscious and leave our bank accounts in a sorry state, to say the least. As if it isn’t already difficult enough planning ahead and selecting outfits for the seasonal events heading our way, many of us have the additional complication of dressing for winter weddings. Well, what if we were to tell you that if you’re a guest at a winter wedding this year, it doesn’t have to be this tricky?
It’s true, we’ve got such good news for you! There are dozens upon dozens of gorgeous garms’, dreamy dresses and sharp suits for you to opt from this season that of course, can double up as Christmas party favourites. Seasonal designs this year are covering all the bases with long free-flowing sleeves, midi-length dresses and faux-fur statement pieces; meaning that not only will you be as snug-as-a-bug-in-a-rug, but on top with trend. Perfect.
So, where do we find these wonderful winter finds? I hear you ask. We’ve got you covered in today’s blog in collab with the go-to fashion houses, high-street names and big label hits with Lyst.
Let the shopping commence…
Pair with the Palazzo
Palazzo trousers are our favourite thing, perhaps ever. The super wide-leg, loose flowing trousers were popular back in the ’60s and ’70s and, as most trends tend to do, Palazzo pants have recently made a comeback… a pretty big one at that, too.
We swear by Palazzo trousers not only to keep us warm and stylish; they also pair pretty with a simple tee for the summer months, a luxurious lace top, flowing silk blouses and statement belts. What’s best, is that if you struggle with a large heel, Palazzo trousers will make your legs look more lengthy so in fact, a kitten heel will still work fabulous.
This gorgeous red pair from Stella McCartney are catching our eye today.
Midi in mind
Skip the mini, midi-dresses are the perfect way to keep warm this winter with just that little more coverage. For extra impact, a sock-heel style boot, a statement belt and bold black bag would complete the look.
Self-Portrait, a firm favourite of ours at The Wedding Affair was always going to be in our winter warmer list, famed for their contemporary clean cut fabrics and use of layering they’re too popular with the A-List.
Faux Fur is your Friend
None of that, “do I really need a jacket?” talk; it’s winter, come on, guys! Layer up with fluffy faux furs to keep you cosy for the confetti. Alternatively, a trendy trench coat or a chic cover up would do just the trick if you’re nipping outside or walking from A-to-B.
Dress it up with a statement brooch, a silk scarf or even a pussy-bow tie to pair with blouse or dress to sit pretty over the top of your layers. For a collarless coat, bring on the bling with a chunky necklace to make a true statement.
Handbag to Hand
Gucci are showing us the ultimate Fall/Winter handbag, the muted hues pair perfect with faux fur and bold beautiful colours. You can’t go too far wrong with a classic leather Marmont shoulder bag or for a little more colour, a dainty Dionysus bag.
A handbag or clutch is an essential to complete your outfit and especially in winter, it’s important that you have your lip-balm to hand, a compact brush and all your other essentials. Remember, it never hurt anyone to be experimental, so opt for colourful, bold and contemporary designs if your outfit allows.
One of the many great things that comes from AW fashion is the choice for sparkling party wear, sequins galore and metallic fabrics. Not only does opting for a glittering outfit mean you’ll stand out in a crowd, but you can also re-wear this piece of clothing for many more winters to come (go, sustainable fashion!) – A jewel-tone and metallic outfit or accessory choice will never go out of fashion. Christmas party wear, tick! NYE outfit, tick!
Oh, and we’re crushing over this sequined suit – a suitably smart but chic choice this festive season.
Jumpsuits, the perfect way to layer up and the best bit? They’re so in right now.
Keep it casual with a slim fit and patterned print or dress it up with flared trousers and an all one colour. A chunky wedge sandal or designer pair of mules would keep your feet comfy whilst kitten heels are the best for practicality in a jumpsuit.
This dreamy Stella McCartney Jumpsuit is definitely making out Christmas wish-list. Major heart eyes!
Keep Warm with Sleeves
The same goes for sleeves – skip the strapless silhouettes and embrace winter with gorgeous long flowing sleeves and standout statement prints. Jewel-toned velvety sleeves and heavy materials will work most in your favour. If that’s however too heavy for you, look to sheer sleeve fabrics such as silk; they reveal glimpses of the skin without too much exposure.
What will you be wearing this breezy season? Let us know in the comments below. Winter and Fall always holds a special place in our hearts for fashion – we’d much prefer to layer up with gorgeous fabrics and pair with Palazzos.
