So, What is a Whimsical Wedding?
So, for the loves that are just starting to get to grips with all of the different wedding themes, you may be asking “Well, what is a ‘Whimsical wedding?”
Other themes, like vintage and rustic weddings, adhere to a very clear cut aesthetic that defines the theme. For example, vintage weddings usually feature pastel or cream colours with classic white china whereas rustic weddings are almost always determined by natural and outdoorsy decor and a muted colour palettes. The word “whimsical” is actually defined as “having capricious humour; extravagant, fanciful, and playful.” Which can really leave it to the Bride or Groom to create something imaginative, fun loving and just a little bit different.
Examples for styling at your wedding could be wildflowers, fun and playful colours, unruly bouquets and delicately hand painted signage. We suggest that you opt for a blank canvas or woodland wedding venue for your setting, for the purpose that you can style to your hearts content and make the most of your natural surroundings.

The Little Details…
Whimsical weddings are a beautiful way to tie traditional or bohemian wedding looks in with a fairy-like wonderment. Whether you opt to make your day a flower filled haven or adorned with twinkling festoon lights and candles, you can’t go too far wrong with dainty accents, butterfly details, hanging garlands or woodland themed focal points.
Add miniature animals or hand painted flowers onto your cake to show personality. Similarly with any signature drinks, add paper straws or labels to show continuity in your theme for a truly memorable day. If you’re struggling for ideas, look to Alice in Wonderland themed weddings for inspiration, alternatively, a Midsummer Nights Dream will provide you with a truly picturesque abundance of wedding inspiration.

Fashion & All Things Pretty
The bridal look. A wedding theme doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to opt for a dress that is out of your comfort zone or in fitting with a particular idea. To add whimsy to your wedding day look, it may just mean that you wear a delicate hair piece, flower garland or dainty leaf crown.
Alternatively, by adding a little pop of colour to your look in the form of champagne or blush, it may just create that ethereal and totally gorgeous look that you were desiring. To push the boat out and go full whimsy, a floral detailed crown would pair pretty with your dress and make for some gorgeous photographs.
Also, whether you wear your hair loose and tousled, in a braid or elegant up-do, is truly up to you. There are no set rules and you can ask your hairstylist to choose a style that works best with your choice of hair accessory or vice versa.
