Sun, sea, sand and sustainability: our guide to eco honeymoons.
Planning your honeymoon is one of the most exciting parts of wedding preparation. Once the big day is over, it’ll be time to jet off to celebrate your first few weeks as a married couple. Whether you’re choosing sunshine and sunbathing in exotic climates, or a mini-moon in a luxurious spa hotel closer to home, it’s a time for you to sip champagne and toast your marriage.
However, for an environmentally-conscious couple, thoughts might turn to how to best spend this time to do a good deed. You may remember Jennifer Combes of Talk of the Town Parties, who told us earlier this year about some of her incredible sustainable wedding ideas. As well as telling us a little about eco stationery, décor and jewellery, Jennifer shared with you the idea of taking an eco honeymoon: a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience somewhere exceptional, whilst doing a good deed for nature and the environment
Unsurprisingly, it’s a popular idea! Therefore, Jennifer’s back with some of her suggestions for the best places worldwide for eco honeymoons. Of course, at The Wedding Affair, we’re all about glamour and luxury, and Jennifer’s suggestions really showcase how to have an eco honeymoon in style. From five-star resorts to celebrity-owned retreats, get dreaming of a gorgeous honeymoon with this week’s Top Tips Tuesday:

These luxurious cottage are completely private and secluded, and come with their own jaccuzzi and sauna. Global Vision International
Global Vision International offers various conservation volunteering experiences. However, they are certainly more glamorous than you may think at first: imagine volunteering with elephants in Thailand, or island conservation in the Seychelles. If you’re looking to blend adventure and relaxation, these are the perfect activities for eco honeymoons: spend a few days working with incredible animals and a few days sipping cocktails by the beach – a mixture of honeymoon memories to last a lifetime.
We’re cheating a little here, as this one is a work in progress. But when there’s a Hollywood superstar involved, we know it’s going to be the height of sustainable luxury. Restorative Islands is a company originally bought by Leonardo DiCaprio: famous for his passion for the environment. The vision was to build the greenest development ever to be built, which will sit by the world’s second largest barrier reef. So, if you love the idea of eco honeymoons, why not ask for gift list donations for this trip of a lifetime? Just one look at the plans is evidence of eco elegance.
Thank you again to Jennifer of Talk of the Town Parties for taking the time to share her wonderful ideas with us. Don’t forget you can find out more about here at www.talkofthetownparties.co.uk or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
