Hello fellow readers, how is your week going so far? We’re prepared for a lot of snow this evening which I’m not all that pleased about. It seems that once Christmas has passed, it looses it’s magic and just becomes a burden. All I really want at the moment is a little bit of sun and some rising temperatures, is that too much to ask for? If you’re in need of some sunshine in your life too, yesterday’s feature has some fun-filled and action-packed adventure inspiration for those planning their holidays or honeymoon.
Today, however we’re starting from the beginning; wedding venues. An essential to your wedding day, your wedding venue will set the scene for your dream day. Whether that be in a lavish marquee, a boutique barn or a stately home, there’s many options for what style of wedding venue will play host. Of course, choosing your venue is one of the very first decisions you will make when starting to plan your special day. For some, it’s an instantaneous choice, and others it can and is, understandably, a mammoth task.
At The Wedding Affair we organise the most luxurious shows, and in the some of the most prestigious venues across Yorkshire and beyond. Venues that we work in range from magnificent stately homes, luxurious 4 & 5 star Hotels, through to charming castles and historic buildings. Take a look at our wedding directory and be truly amazed by the venues that we work with; they’re a gorgeous and lovely lot.
Alternatively, for a close up and personal experience, join us for our luxury Spring wedding fairs and wander around venues (Prosecco in hand) that you could be calling your very own for the day.
Deciding what kind of ceremony you’re going to have is a very important part of deciding the venue. If you want a religious ceremony, you’ll need to decide as a couple which place of worship is the right one for you. Usually, if you’re going to have a religious ceremony, the two of you may already have an idea of where you’ll be holding it – but make sure you take the appropriate steps in making sure you are actually allowed to get married there! This also means that for the sake of easy logistics and super happy guests, you’ll want to consider holding your reception somewhere close by. This will be something that will need to be taken into consideration.
If you would prefer a civil ceremony, then it’s either your local registry office, or a licensed venue. If you’ve got your heart set on getting married and holding the reception in one location, make sure the venue you’ve fallen for can legally marry you.

Luxurious Hotels & Stately Homes…
OK, so you can’t go wrong with a luxurious venue, whether that be a hotel, stately home or castle will be down to you. Not only will your photos look stunning, but you can expect the very best service, food and much, much more.
Generally, these type of venues are great for taking the stress away – if you are seeking an expertly planned wedding that’s seamless, elegant and well the very best; luxurious venues often they have a designated wedding planner who will be your main point of contact throughout your planning process. Not to mention amazing spa facilities, top notch restaurants and plenty of accommodation… these venues really do have it all.
Alternatives: Marquees & Tipi’s…
With the rise in humanist and alternative ceremonies, more and more couples are holding their reception in a marquee or a Tipi. A great idea if you have some land, or know of some to pitch your lovely make-shift venue.
Do bare in mind with this option that you may have to organise a lot more, depending on where the location of the marquee/ Tipi is. And, while there are lots of great marquee, tent and tipi companies who will set up for you and often offer things like tables and generator hire too (hello, The Wedding Affair Approved Suppliers) – you will also have to think about toilet facilities, furniture, all of the decor, where people will have drinks/eat/dance/relax and somewhere for the caterers to go.
For many Brides, however, this is the perfect chance to unleash their inner creative party planner. If this is you, go for it – because the only restrictions on your dreams will be financial ones. You can choose any suppliers you want, decorate in exactly the way you want, make noise until you want and ensure that your wedding day is totally private. It is the picture perfect blank canvas.

For the foodies…
Food, as every bride knows, is the way to a guest’s heart, making the crowd feel warm and welcome. One way to guarantee that your guests have a four-star experience is to book your celebration at a restaurant whose cuisine you know and love. A restaurant wedding is also an easy choice for couples who want the full wedding experience, but who don’t want to sweat the details, since everything—from chairs to chafing dishes to a check room—is already in place. Here, the logistics of having a wedding in a setting where the fare is fabulous.
