The Wedding Affair Perfect Planning Guide… Alternative Stag Ideas
Morning everyone! It’s Hump Day, and that means we have another post to join The Wedding Affair Perfect Planning Guide and too, another #WeddingHour topic for this evening. The topic of the day is ‘Alternative Stag Ideas’. Of course, as per standard for Wednesday mornings, we are kick starting your day with a blog will some great idea’s for your very own (or your best pals) stag celebrations.
Remember, you can still catch up on last weeks edition for Alternative Hen Ideas.
Most groom’s will have a last night of freedom before he will be wed to his Mrs. This Stag-do should be perfect, however, it can be quite complex when it gets to planning the actual activities and co-ordination of the day. We all know the typical Stag parties, quad biking, paint balling, racing carts and not forgetting the few to many larger’s drunk. All these activities are great, if you want a run-of-the-mill Stag do…
So if you’ve never organised a stag do before, budgets aside, here are some suggestions to help keep it refined and, we’d like to say civilised, but that bit’s up to you!
A weekend trip to Dublin
Right, so i’m sure you will have heard from a friend of a friend who has been here on a Stag-do to Dublin? You more than likely will have been inundated with comments as to how good the bars are, the Guinness (copious amounts, too!) and the amount you can do in this city.
Dublin, is the largest city and capital of Ireland. It’s only a very short flight away, so makes the perfect get away for you and your men. If you all love your sport, alcohol and bit of good old Irish culture too, then this is your location. For Friday evenings there’s endless amounts of taverns, and entertainment. If feeling a little rough on the Saturday morning, take a stroll around the famed Guinness store-house, learn all there is about the Irish drink and of course, enjoy a pint before the evening starts over again. Sunday mornings can be enjoyed by taking a relaxing trip to the beer spa or looking at the gorgeous sights of Dublin. A man’s slice of heaven, ey?
White water rafting
Have the ultimate Stag-do by doing something a little different from the norm. River rafting is one of the most reliable UK adrenaline sports and also, one of the most popular. There are two main forms of white water rafting; man-made and natural rafting. Both have their merits:
Obviously for white water rafting you need a river with rapids. As these are limited to mountainous areas, some man-made recreational courses have been built in flatter areas of the UK. While man-made courses are a reasonable substitute, we would really recommend the natural courses if you’re looking for anything more thrilling than a couple of bumps over a few hundred metres of man made rapids.
Sound’s like a great idea for you and your boys, right?
When someone mentions the phrase ‘Stag do’ what springs to mind? Is it silly outfits, perhaps an inflatable doll, punishing beer fines, endless shots or gentlemen’s clubs with dancing ladies. All of the aforementioned? Well, this option is a little on the classier side. Less lad more gent.
If you see a stag do as all about celebrating ‘guy-ness’ then a whisky tasting is a fantastic addition to your weekend. You’ll get to kick back and enjoy some taste-testing of the finest spirits around. An expert tutor will guide you through the flavours, all you need to do is enjoy.
If you are seeking a much more relaxed do, then why not hire out a house, buy in some good food, cheese, wine and whiskey. Purchase enough to keep going all weekend and then plan your trips around this? There’s no rule that Stag-do’s have to me loud and messy.
Enjoy some peaceful time before the big day and unwind. After all, wedding planning can be stressful for the groom too, you know!
Scrubbed up meal
So, you’ve booked your hotel/house for you all to stay in over the weekend. It’s now time for you to book somewhere to have your ‘last meal’. It’s always good to end the day on a hearty meal, after your activities and goings on of the day, you are sure going to need it. Why not opt for a Michelin starred curry, a fancy Gaucho steak or even hire a chef to come to the place you have hired?
This will leave you to relax and spend some well needed time with the best men in your life. So, sit back, enjoy some good food (and drink) and celebrate what is to come.
