Take care of yourself, inside and out, with a skin-loving budget beauty solution – water!
We’ve heard it said so many times: drinking water is essential to our health and wellbeing.
It’s often hard to get the amount of water we need. With guidelines stating eight glasses per day, it can quite hard to follow (especially if, like us, you’re working in the wedding industry and you need the power of coffee!).
However, it’s vital that we keep our bodies hydrated, particularly during the stressful period leading up your wedding day.
There’s no more – affordable! – beauty treatment for our skin than getting plenty of glasses of water drunk per day. So why is it so important that brides and grooms drink plenty of H20? Let this week’s The Beauty Bible guide you through the reasons behind why staying hydrated is your best, budget, wedding beauty solution:
Keep your energy levels up
Feeling thirsty? You’re already dehydrated. Thirst is your body’s way of telling you that you need hydrating. In fact, by the time the message travels to your brain that you’re needing a drink, your body is already dehydrated.
Dehydration can lead to a loss of strength and stamina, making you feel exhausted. So, when you’re reaching for the caffeine, pour yourself a glass of water instead to raise your energy levels in the healthiest way (we can certainly learn from that!).
Give your skin a glow
As well as making your energy levels drop, dehydration isn’t good for your skin. Fail to drink enough water, and the signs will show in tired and dull-looking skin: not what any bride or groom-to-be is aiming for!
Here’s the science part: drinking water helps your lymphatic system to get rid of impurities, such as those giving skin its dull appearance, whilst delivering important nutrients. That sounds like a pretty good beauty treatment to us!
Boost your immune system
Busy? Tired? Stressed out by that seating plan? We’re not surprised. Wedding planning can be hard work. And when you’re run down, your immune system takes a battering, making you more susceptible to headaches and bugs.
Drinking more water helps flush the toxins out of your body, helps the fight against flu and other ailments, and gives your immune system that much-needed boost. You’ll need that energy for your hen or stag party!
Balance your body
You can do this by adding some flavour to your water. Sorry, I’m afraid we don’t mean splashes of squash or cordial, which tend to be high in sugar. Instead, we’re thinking lemons and limes. Just imagine you’re relaxing in the spa (and haven’t you wondered why citrus water is always the drink of choice?).
The natural composition of lemons and limes means that they produce alkaline, which raises your internal PH levels and make your eyes and skin appear bright. Sounds good to us! Not only that, a slice of lemon in water first thing on a morning will help to wake up your metabolism.
