When it comes to deciding on your wedding band, booking the right one is so important. Opting for the right music and entertainment will kick your reception off in just the right way, setting the ambience for the rest of the evening.
This is your chance to show your personalities, and in doing so it’s essential that you do your research to find entertainment that’s pitch perfect for the both of you. To put it lightly, even the most amazing wedding can fall-flat if the DJ is dodgy or the band are off beat, which is exactly why we are here to help along with with leading entertainment agency, Entertainment Nation. You’re certainly in luck if you’re seeking great quality acts of all different genres in one area!
So without further adu, we’ll pass it over to the team from Entertainment Nation who are sharing their expert tips, a little about their uber-cool agency, and words of wedded wisdom for couples selecting their wedding entertainment
Tell us a little bit about you and what made you start up ‘Entertainment Nation’?
“Entertainment Nation was founded by two professional wedding musicians with a passion for delivering not only a crowd-pleasing performance but also responsive and reliable customer service.
After years of experience performing in top UK wedding bands, our founders decided to put their accumulated knowledge to good use and create an entertainment agency that put clients and bands first (after all, a happy band is far more likely to give their best performance). And so, Entertainment Nation was born and has since grown into the UK’s most exciting wedding entertainment agency, with hundreds of bands, musicians and performers for prospective brides and grooms to choose from.
Our highlights tend to be every Monday morning when reviews, photos and videos from the previous weekend’s weddings start flowing in. It’s fantastic to see all the smiling faces and packed out dance floors and know that we’ve played a small part in making someone’s big day extra special.“
What does Entertainment Network bring to the wedding industry and what types of services do you offer to Brides and Grooms?
‘We bring expert musical knowledge and a genuine love of live performance to the wedding industry. We have strict quality standards for the acts we represent, with every application from a band or performer being assessed by our specialist new acts team before inclusion on our books. This commitment to excellence means that all our acts are professionals who can be relied upon to give an amazing performance.
We offer wedding entertainment for every moment of a wedding day. From wedding ceremony musicians to afternoon entertainment like magicians and caricaturists, to bands and DJs for the ultimate wedding reception party.
Just as every wedding is unique, so is every wedding band. A band’s fee will depend on a range of factors, from the number of members to how far the band has to travel, so we don’t tend to offer set packages. Then there are optional add-ons such as extra vocalists, extra musicians and acoustic duo sets. The great thing about the range of bands and services they offer is a couple can use their choice of entertainment to really personalise their wedding day.
If the sheer variety of wedding entertainment proves intimidating, our expert wedding entertainment advisers can help. They’ll find out about what a couple wants from a wedding band and give them a selection of bands tailored to their requirements.‘
What makes you different from other agencies and inspires couples to book your services through Entertainment Nation?
‘We believe in talking to couples, getting to know them and their tastes and then guiding and giving inspiration so they get entertainment that’s precisely suited to them and their wedding day.
We also understand how busy people’s lives are nowadays, which is why our advisers are available from 10am until 10pm every single day. So whether someone wants to book their wedding band on while chilling on a Sunday evening or a question crops up at 9pm on a Thursday, there’s an expert member of staff on the other end of the phone, email or Live Chat to help.’
What do you love about weddings and how does Entertainment enhance a wedding – What sets you apart from others within your industry?
‘The romance of the ceremony, the warmth of being surrounded by family and friends, the moment the inhibitions drop and everyone hits the dance floor – we love everything about weddings!
The right entertainment enhances almost every element of a wedding. Wedding entertainment is often overlooked, but it really is one of the most crucial things to get right when planning a wedding. It can be the difference between a stuttering reception where bored guests make their excuses and leave early and an unforgettable celebration that launches a new marriage in sensational style.’
How do you suggest that Brides and Grooms find entertainment for their wedding – Does Entertainment Nation make this an easy process?
‘While the ideal might be to see a band live before booking, this isn’t always possible, due to the most popular wedding bands having their diaries fully booked with private performances at weddings.
Unless you fancy taking up wedding crashing as a hobby, we’d suggest the best to find your wedding entertainment is to sit back and take a browse through a curated selection of verified artists on a reputable agency website like Entertainment Nation.
Not only are there a plethora of top acts in one place, all with professional video and audio that shows you the real performance, there are also the benefits of booking through a trusted agency like Entertainment Nation:
- Advice and support from initial enquiry to the day of the performance.
- Comprehensive contracts and secure online payment giving you peace of mind.
- We maintain close relationships with our bands and performers, so we can liaise with your act on your behalf at any time.
- All acts hold full Public Liability Insurance.
- We’re open from 10am until 10pm every day, so where here when you need us.’
How would you suggest that Brides and Grooms pick their first dance song – Do you have any favourites or what’s proving popular in 2018 so far, with your own bands and musicians?
‘This one prompted a bit of a chat in the office and the unanimous verdict that the most popular first dance songs of 2018 are anything by Ed Sheeran! ‘Thinking Out Loud’ remains enormously popular, but it’s been overtaken by the more recently released ‘Perfect’.
A couple of modern first dance songs we’ve loved recently are ‘As You Are’ by Rag N Bone Man and a lovely acoustic version of ‘For You’ by Liam Payne and Rita Ora.
There’s a growing trend of couples going for older quirky stuff though, and some people enjoy a cheeky mashup! ‘At Last” by Etta James is still an absolute classic that gets requested all the time, as is ‘Ain’t No Mountain High Enough’ by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell.
Generally, it’s nice to go for something personal – a song that means something to the couple, but if a bride and groom are really struggling for inspiration, their wedding band will be able to give some suggestions of songs that have worked well in the past.‘
What advice do your team offer to couples planning their wedding to help them decide on entertainment and other aspects of their big day?
‘This is an entire blog post in itself, but our top tips in brief are:
- Book early to avoid missing out on your favoured act.
- Make sure you have a secure contract signed by yourself and your act.
- If budget is a factor, go for a band that’s local to your venue to save on travel expenses.
- If you want your band to learn your first dance song, let them know with plenty of time to spare.
- The same goes for letting your band know if your venue has a sound limiter.
- Remember your guests! Try to book entertainment that will keep your particular mix of people happy!’
