The Beauty Bible: Skin Loving Remedies for a Hangover
We’re in the limbo of Christmas, New Year and family festivities. A time for celebrating with your most beloved with a glass – or three – of bubbly. But, along with the gorgeous goings on, our skin too, can take a beating from the over-indulgences and late nights.
If that’s you, you’re probably reading this feeling like you need a quick remedy to cure that hangover – quickly! In addition to feeling a little sickly, and perhaps reaching for the paracetamol, you may feel your skin is showing the signs of over-indulgence. Whether to repair the damage or to disguise the impact of the night before, we have some of the top hungover-skin remedies for you.
Of course, the only way to really stay hangover-free is by avoiding the booze altogether, but that’s not a lot of use if you’re reading this and counting how many glasses of fizz you went through! However, today, The Beauty Bible is dedicated to the top tips for rescuing your skin from the signs of an indulgent night-before:

Energise with a Facial Scrub
Give your skin a New Year’s Day wake-up call with a fabulous face scrub. Your skin can look a little lifeless and dull when you’re hungover, but the exfoliating particles in a scrub bring the blood to the surface of the skin. Not only does this boost your circulation, it removes dead cells to brighten your complexion. We love this gorgeous Elemis Energising Skin Scrub (available from John Lewis for both men and women).

The smell of citrus fruits brings your senses to life, so a citrus-scented shower gel is perfect for springing your skin back into action. Jump in the shower and cleanse your skin all over with a zingy shower gel, such as one of our favourites from The Body Shop (the satsuma smell is divine, and works a treat for sleepy senses!).

It’s a well-known fact that alcohol robs your skin of moisture. Dry skin can make your skin look dull, tired and aged: certainly not the direction we’re headed in here at The Beauty Bible! A good moisturiser will give your skin a quick boost. Simple’s Kind to Skin Hydrating Moisturiser is perfect for both male and female skin, and soft enough on your worse-for-wear skin.
Of course, don’t forget to keep rehydrating with plenty of water.

Dark, dull circles under your eyes are a tell-tale sign of a heavy night: a give-away of indulgence and lack of sleep. There’s no perfect quick-fix, but a great concealer will disguise the darkeness and lighten your eyes. We’re always reaching for our fail-safe Yves Saint Laurent Touché Eclat: it’s not called Radiant Touch for nothing!
It’ll help banish those shadows and keep dullness at bay. Snap yours up at Boots and other leading beauty counters.
