Sharon & Christopher: An Elegant Wedding at Goldsborough Hall with a Classic White & Pastel Blue Colour Scheme
Hello, lovelies! How is your wedding planning going this week? Well I do hope. If you’re on the lookout for some top wedding talent in North Yorkshire, then you’re going to find the real wedding today a huge inspiration. We’re so, so delighted to be sharing with you the absolutely gorgeous day of Sharon and Christopher. Their special day was captured by the oh-so talented Laura Calderwood Photography who’s work we are just swooning over, and will certainly continue to!
The gorgeous duo tied the knot on Saturday the 1st of July, 2017 and there picturesque wedding took place at one of our most loved venues, Goldsborough Hall. This combined with the many other talented creatives that we have had the pleasure of working with, made for a wedding that was elegant, glamorous and classical combined. We can’t wait for you to see it all.
Let’s find out more from their dreamy day, shall we?
Sharon and Chris fell in love whilst studying and later, Chris went on to propose to Sharon in one of the most romantic ways;
“We met 5 years ago at medical school in London. It was love at first sight. Chris popped the question under a starlit sky in Ireland.”
The super (duper!) talented Becca of Becca Hunton Hair and Makeup created an elegant and sophisticated look for the bride, Sharon. We adored her shimmering and smokey eyes, completed with a glowing complexion with a little touch of blush.
Becca also glammed up Sharon’s favourite ladies, who all don gorgeous pastel blue gowns.
The couples ceremony setting in the Drawing Room at Goldsborough Hall looked oh-so gorgeous, thanks to the talented Shindig Event Styling. The lovely Cristel who we’ve adored working with on numerous occasions, added little touches of romance to the grand space with her chiffon chair sashes. The aisle was then decorated with floating candles in vases and a scattering of petals here-and-there.
I’m sure you will agree, just how dreamy it all looks?
Serendipity Floral Designs sourced and designed the beautiful blooms, selecting colours that perfectly complimented each other in pinks, ivory, blue and then little touches of greenery. Our favourite? The combination of Hydrangea and delicate roses.
The flourishing florals, in our opinion really tied the whole day together, from the maids’ gowns to the dapper grooms outfit and the light spaces that their venue provided. Sublime.
There’s much to find exciting about planning a wedding, after all, it marks a whole new chapter in your life. We asked Sharon and Christoper what excited them the most about the planning process and what the first thing they booked was:
“The venue was the most exciting and first to get booked. Everything else fell in place around that.”
“We had the expert help of our coordinator from Goldsborough hall who steered us in the right direction and helped us to realise our vision.”
The ceremony and the vows were also very important to the couple.
“Our venue, Goldsborough hall, is in beautiful North Yorkshire. We chose it as it was perfect for our party size and we could have the ceremony and reception all in a single location.”
We’ve had the huge pleasure of working with Goldsborough Hall for many years, and it’s hard not to fall in love with the idyllic surroundings and grandeur of the light spaces that are just so wedding perfect.
Sharon’s dress is for sure, one of our dreams. The bride opted for a slim fitted strapless gown with delicate lace detailing. In her own words, it was “Elegant and Classic” which not only suited her down to a T, but was so fitting with the elegant day that her and her beau had planned together.
The reception, in Goldsborough’s delightful Orangery was once again, filled top-to-toe with the most gorgeous flowers which complimented the opulent yet light space, whilst the cake that the lovely Blossom Tree Cake Company designed and created, made for the perfect focal point; adding a little touch of glamour in a subtle gold sequined effect.
Kean and Stephen from Blossom Tree, have to be two of the most talented people and the sheer elegance of their designs never cease to amaze.
Little touches of blue were used on the stationery to continue to tie the pastel coloured day together. Chris don a blue tie and hanker-chief in which, looked oh-so dapper paired with the elegant white and eucalyptus buttonhole.
And, finally if they were to give any other couples any advice, what would that be?
“For the groom: Have a drink….but not too much. For the bride: Have a lie-in.”
As we close-up on this idyllic and lovely wedding, we would just like to say a little thank you to the couple, Sharon and Christopher for letting us share your very special wedding day. We’ve honestly loved reading about the pretty goings on at Goldsborough and from the suppliers that helped turn your vision into a reality. From The Wedding Affair, we would like to wish you a wonderful future, and a healthy and happy marriage.
Also, a huge thank you to Laura of Laura Calderwood Photography for sending us over this dreamy wedding. For a full story of the day, we have a gallery of all the images below, along with full vendor credits.
