The Beauty Bible: Prime Your Way to Perfection
Good morning, beauts’! I hope you are well? We certainly are as we are heading into the weekend – and as we all know, weekends consist of nights out, daytime dining and often made-up faces, so it’s an essential that our make-up can withstand a whole day of busy-bee plans. Of course, this goes for your wedding day too!
Today, we’re talking about the staple must have beauty buy that brides, and any make-up lover needs in their make-up bag, primer. We do love a good primer, in fact, it’s so, so rare that we wouldn’t wear one. “So what us a primer?” I hear you ask. Primers do for your skin essentially what lingerie does for your figure – they smooth, flatten, conceal and hold things in place; so that everything you put on top of them looks immediately flawless. Whether you want to soften wrinkles, mattify, minimise the appearance of pores, or even out skin tone.
Primers do most or all of the above whilst creating a perfect base for makeup and helping it to stay put for longer. Take a look at our top primers, for your wedding, a night out, or even just for every day use.

Of course, I had to start with my all time favourite primer – I can easily say that this dreamboat primer is the best and most beautiful I’ve ever used. NARS Radience Primer is a lightweight, glowy and gorgeous primer that instantly wakes up your face and just like the name, adds radiance.
This primer contains no oil, is fragrance free, alcohol free and Paraben free; this means it doesn’t aggravate sensitive skin and is suitable for all skin types. Perfect!

Smash Box Photo-Finish Primer
Second up up on the list is Smash box’s most recent primer innovation! This award winning primer is a must try –an oil free, water-based formula that is ideal for oily and acne-prone skin. Not only that, but it minimises the appearance of fine lines and pores for visibly softer, smoother skin. It glides on like nothing, making skin feel light and lovely as air.
Pst, this one’s readily available from Boots, too, and at a great price!
MAC Cosmetics Fix +
Our love affair with Mac Cosmetics Fix + continues. Essentially not a primer, but a lightweight, super hydrating mist that we ADORE!
Spritz a few times to cover the face before you apply make-up, let it set for a few minutes – then spray again a few times one you have completed. And tadaaa… what you end up with? An ever so natural look, free from shine, but with a slight dewy look. Gorgeous for any occasion for a light weight and barely there feel.
Le Blanc De Chanel
Described by Chanel as “an ingenious, oil-free, multi-tasking foundation base that illuminates and evens the complexion while minimising the appearance of pores”, this primer sounds like an absolute dream. Of course, we would expect nothing less from Chanel.
Hazel and Liquorice works hard to minimise the appearance of pores and evens out skin-tone, not only resulting in flawless foundation, but even better skin, too.
The Porefessional is an award winning primer from big name brand, Benefit Cosmetics.
For ladies seeking a quick fix and an all round trusty primer, Benefit have you covered. To quickly minimise the appearance of pores and fine lines for smoother-than-smooth skin, simply apply this silky, lightweight balm alone, under or over makeup. This translucent formula also contains a vitamin E derivative, popularly known to protect skin from free radicals!
