Nailing The Perfect Smile On Your Wedding Day…
On your wedding day you will be smiling from sun up to sun down. Make sure your teeth are up for the challenge. For this weeks Beauty Bible we will be giving you advice on how to score that dazzling smile with a few simple tricks and beauty secrets, making your teeth just as white as your dress…
Just like your skin care routine, why not set up a routine for your teeth? Anywhere between a year and a few months before your wedding try cutting down on foods that will stain the enamel on your teeth. Deeply pigmented beverages such as, tea, coffee and red wine, as well as food such as blueberries, cherries, curry and tomato sauce can all discolour your teeth. Don’t let this prevent you from eating your favourite foods though! Try drinking beverages through a straw, and eat food which may discolour your teeth in moderation. Just remember to floss a little extra and brush your teeth after eating certain foods to keep your teeth looking pristine and remove any of that pesky plaque.
If you have the budget to splurge out on getting your teeth whitened professionally by your dentist, then we would recommend you getting them done 1-3 months before your wedding day. This would mean that your teeth will not look false but you will still have that lovely pearly white glow to them! Having your teeth whitened a few months before the wedding will also mean that if you have any sensitivity you will have time to use a treatment to help with this, meaning no unnecessary discomfort on your special day.
For a less expensive option why not try over the counter whitening strips or gel, this could be a good way to maintain the colour of your teeth. Most dental practices will also be able to offer a cheaper form of teeth whitening where they take a mould of your teeth then give you a weaker form of the bleach they use in the dental practice, giving you a custom fitted mould which can gradually whiten your teeth over a couple of weeks, if you have sensitive teeth this may be a more suitable option for you.
If you however don’t want to use a strict whitening product, certain lipstick colours will help to enhance a smile’s natural luminosity. The Wedding Affair’s personal favourite? Peaches and pinks. Soft peaches and pinks are great for enhancing a beautiful white smile.
Other colour corrective colours which will instantly brighten your smile are, red’s or colours with a blue undertone, as the colour blue counteracts the tinge of stains and makes your smile look more luminous. Another tip is to go for a creamy lipstick rather than a matte (matte lipsticks tend to absorb light) if you are wanting to brighten your smile, or add a touch more gloss to reflect light and make your smile more radiant.
Another way to get the most out of your wedding photos is working out what angle works best for your smile, no ones face is fully symmetrical, so why not take a look through old photos to see what angle works most in favour for you.
If you are however still unhappy with your smile then why not consider wearing braces? Your dentist will be able to refer you to an orthodontist if you are not feeling 100% confident, however do remember that your fiancee is marrying you for a reason, and thinks you are beautiful as you are, but having braces could be an option to boost your confidence for a beautiful smile.
