Show British style, class and sophistication with an elegant, St. George’s Day-inspired wedding theme.
We love wedding themes and ideas that truly personalise your big day. We adore styles that say something about you as a couple, such as marking moments in your relationship or places that are special to you.
Of course, celebrating your hometowns, heritages and the locations that you’ve been to together is a huge part of the unique way of marking your marriage. And this year, we’ve already honoured the Welsh and Irish traditions as we’ve marked St. David’s Day and St. Patrick’s Day.
This month, it’s time to celebrate St. George’s Day, which we mark this coming Saturday (23rd April). Therefore, this week’s Monday Moodboard is all about the best of British!
Red, white and blue are an iconic combination, and we love the strong reds the couples on our first moodboard have brought to their big days. Whether it’s outfit styling with elegance, like the beautiful couple on Secret Wedding Blog, or the sharp suited groom we saw on Lisa Dawn, your style can make a sophisticated statement. Feeling bold? Go for Union Jack shoes (sequined, of course!) like this pair we spied on Richard Gebby.
Toast your marriage in true British-style by giving your guests a flag to wave instead of confetti to throw: we love this idea from Not on the High Street! Fancy something a little more subtle? Try regal elegance, just like Events to a T DC. And we’re huge fans on the table naming idea we spotted on Pinterest: tube station names are the perfect way to map your relationship!
Finally, we’ve hunted down some gorgeous, British-themed stationery. We love the bold, tube map and flag style we spied on Etsy for a fun take on the theme, as well as the softer, more understated glamour of the Yahoo stationery. Of course, once your guests are seated, why not truly capture the British-ness of your wedding day with a good-old pot of tea? Kara’s Party Idea is a winner.
Of course, just click the links below each board and we’ll take you straight to the source of this week’s inspiration (L to R):
Have you had a St. George’s Day style wedding? Planning to name your tables after the tube stops where you used to meet? Union Jack-themed stationery? Show off your ideas by sending them over to us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
