Show your love with sophisticated use of the symbol of passion: the heart.
It’s the most romantic week of the year: this Sunday is Valentine’s Day! Whether you have proposals on your mind, a romantic weekend away or are just treasuring time with your fiancé/e, it’s a week to truly celebrate love.
Of course, when we think of love one symbol springs to mind: the heart. And this got us to thinking about the ways to use the classic sign of love as a theme for your wedding day, whether it’s this Valentine’s weekend or beyond.
You might be a little wary: does it sound a bit childish, or not quite as elegant as you’d like? This week’s Monday Moodboard is here to show you how the heart can be a sophisticated, classic and beautiful theme for your elegant big day.
Our first Monday Moodboard shows off your style. Grooms: get suited and booted with heart-shaped cufflinks to finish off your look (we’ve got a couple of varieties to show you below). Children in your big day? How cute will they look in these gorgeous heart-pattern flower girl dresses? Or for the bridesmaids, why not try a beautiful patterned dress? Bridal Chic in the City inspired us by featuring these designs. And of course, let’s not forget a Vivienne Westwood heart-shaped shoe (just fabulous!).
Wondering how a heart theme works for your flowers? Style and shape your bouquet: we’ve a little inspiration for you below to get started. Don’t forget to ask your florist (have you chosen yours from The Wedding Affair’s Approved Supplier List yet?) which blooms are best to work this shape. For décor, why not take a look at Not on the High Street, where we found amazing ideas for classic prints and statement confetti.
Finally, our third Monday Moodboard is showing you some delectable heart-shaped edibles, with you cakes, cupcakes and biscuits that are both statement and sophisticated (don’t those Etsy cupcakes look delicious?). A classic heart design looks simple yet classic on your stationery: Equally Wed have one of our favourite designs, on show here.
As always, the links below each board and we’ll take you straight to the source of our inspiration (L to R):
