Monday Mood Board: An Italian Love Affair
Morning loves, I hope you are all well and had the most beautiful weekend. Today’s blog is all about Italian weddings (surprise, surprise!) after my two week stay in what is now my favourite country I thought it was only right that I created a blog all about weddings in this gorgeous country.
Let me transport you to Italy with this weeks delightful Monday Mood Board, featuring beautiful villa’s and vine yards, sophisticated styling ideas, and of course what would an Italian wedding be without some absolutely gorgeous bridal wear? You wont be able to resist hopping on that plane for a luxurious trip away.
Whether you are wanting a romantic intimate get away, or a large family affair. Italy could prove to be the perfect escape for your truly elegant wedding.
Take inspiration from the historic buildings, castles and the villas and vine yards that adorn Italy so beautifully. A personal favourite of ours at The Wedding Affair has to be Lake Como. Lake Como is not far from the fashion capital of Italy, Milan. It is one of the most famous Italian Lake Destinations, and has a distinctly Mediterranean feel to it, blessed with a balmy micro climate, yet surprisingly close to the Swiss border.
Admire the blue waters and relax in luxurious villas in the wooded lakeside slopes above. There’s much to explore here: hop on a ferry or follow the sinuous road hugging the shoreline to find ancient cliff side villas and cobble stoned markets. Lake Como’s perfected the sort of charmed, lazy summer living that’s attracted the famous and wealthy for centuries.
Alternatively, Venice provides the up-most stunning location for a wedding. If dainty streets, canals, pretty detailing and a whole heap of culture then this Northern point of Italy is a must. A water-edge setting yet with a twist. You will find plenty of boutique hotels located along canal edges and in grand piazzas all worthy of a stunning wedding.
The Italian city of Milan is recognised internationally as one of the world’s most important and luxurious fashion capitals, along with Paris, New York and London. Milan has established a long history within the fields of fashion, textiles and design in general, therefore making Italy into a global fashion icon.
Take inspiration from the fashion capital of the country and make your bridal gown just as beautiful. We are taking inspiration from couture designer Hermione de Paula (my *absolute* favourite bridal designer!) Hermione de Paula graduated from Central Saint Martins with a First-class degree in Fashion and Print. She also spent time working at Christian Dior Couture, Alexander McQueen, John Galliano and Giles. She made her debut at London Fashion Week in 2009 and has since gone on to expand the brand into multiple lifestyle categories with a renewed focus on bespoke bridal, and we absolutely adore her work!
In the summer heat we are thinking easy-breesy styles with flowing chiffons of course, with plenty of detailing too.
Mix in hints of plum’s and deep purples into your colour scheme for pops of colour. With a venue with sandy yellow and neutral walls, they really will add a touch of luxury. We are also loving botanical’s, Shades of green foliage intertwined within decor really does look stunning.
If you’re hoping to incorporate a more organic, free-form floral design into your wedding day, then look no further. These pieces, whether it be a statement bouquet, a lush centrepiece, or a unique ceremony backdrop, all incorporate varied greeneries and blooming branches, mixed with ruffled blooms and a gentle Autumnal or Summer colour palette. Can you believe that summer is speeding by this fast?!
