Monday Mood Board: 50 Shades Of Red Wedding Inspiration…
Good morning everyone… we do hope that you all had a lovely weekend? Did anyone go away for the weekend for some lovely pre-valentines celebrations? I have to say, we all could do with a Spa break at The Wedding Affair HQ! Do let us know in the comments section below what you got up to these past couple of days, or how you are celebrating February the 14th (tomorrow, eek!).
And, whilst on the topic of Valentines; the much-anticipated Fifty Shades Darker movie came out in cinemas last Friday, of course just in time for Valentines too!
Even though the movie has totally mixed reviews, it’s a must watch, right? (Also, do let us know what you thought of it, i’m yet to see the movie!) And, whilst we understand that the movie isn’t actually about 50 different hues between black and white, here at The Wedding Affair we wanted to give appreciation to all the ranges of beautiful colours out there for Valentines. From bold reds to subtle peaches, we’ll be sharing our favourite images of wedding inspiration in the themed colour to celebrate the release of the steamy movie, and of course, Valentines.
Valentine’s Day is synonymous with pink and red hues. Depending on your style, you can go with those traditional tones, or opt for something a little more unexpected. For example, choose a classic, yet timeless elegant theme by selecting white, and gold, then to add a little pop of colour into the mix, a gorgeous deep red or burgundy. Keep it simple and forgo the cheesy bright colours for your stylish day.
Roses on Valentine’s Day are a given. But other blooms are just as gorgeous. For larger than life blooms we’re thinking Hydrangea and Peonies – For a rich contrast, mix plenty of foliage into the mix. Be inspired by the Pantone Colour Of The Year, and also don’t be afraid to try something new, a few succulents thrown into the mix and tadaa – you have an unstructured, but simply beautiful ethereal bouquet.
We are so crushing over the flower wall (even more so than Kimmy K’s wedding?). The ombre red, down into peachy and white blooms is to die for. Plus, how amazing would your photo’s look with that beauty in the background?!
Red might rarely make its way into a wedding colour palette, but when it does; it looks like this… red, and shades of red can be extremely eye-catching. With painted accents, chic metallic hints and three-dimensional flowral accents, this dessert might (just) be too pretty to eat.
A firm favourite at The Wedding Affair… a lush red velvet cake, delish! A red velvet cake just HAS to be part of your valentines inspired do. Not only does it taste amazing, but looks it too.
Looking on the brighter side of red – for brides that like to make an entrance, this board is made especially for you. Just 2 weeks ago Ralph & Russo launched their S/S2017 collection. What a stunning one it is too, included in their aesthetic catwalk were two dresses that I just could not peel my eyes from – The top right would make the most wonderful wedding gown don’t you agree? And, as for the bottom left, perfect for brides tying the knot on a beach, or even some very lucky bridesmaids.
Of course, you would need the killer heels to match too, still Ralph & Russo.
Using this colour in your wedding used sparingly, and done in the right way would look amazing . Paired with a bold red lip, and simple white styling and florals, really would mean all eyes would be on you.
