Monday Mood Board: Anyone For Tea? An Afternoon Tea Inspired Wedding
Good morning lovely ones, How are you all today? I do hope that you had the best weekend and that you had at least a teeny bit of sun, wherever you may have been. It seems that summer hasn’t wanted to come out that much this year, and it’s a scary thought that the day’s are growing shorter already. Christmas will soon be upon us and some how, another year will have flown by.
Anyhow, before I start blurting out Bublé I do actually have a Mood Board today that is sure to brighten your Monday morning up. It’s to celebrate that is the start of National Afternoon Tea Week (Crazy, I know!). And, what better way to achieve this by creating a whole blog dedicated to a delicious afternoon tea inspired wedding? This not so kind weather has got us thinking outdoor weddings, dainty tea parties and pretty picnics. Oh, and cake. Lot’s of it.
Personally, I feel this idea is a great starting point for Brides and Grooms who may be wanting a wedding a little closer to home, a back garden wedding, or perhaps a marquee wedding.
Bloomin’ Gorgeous Flowers…
Summer undoubtedly is the month where we see the most vibrant and colourful flowers make a come back. Pick garden-like blooms for a laid back, fun and whimsical approach. Alternatively, choose from larger, more structured blooms for a more opulent feel. A few of our favourite floral’s that would suit this theme are Peonies, Hydrangeas, Stocks, Daisies and Marigolds.
When choosing your theme, think of the location you want your wedding to take place in. If you have the room for a Marquee or Tipi, these really can make for a beautiful blank canvas. Meaning, you can fill it up with styling and flowers to your hearts content. Think about draping from the ceiling, and putting them down low to make for a floral wonderland , perfect for your afternoon tea inspired wedding.
A ‘Proper’ Garden Party…
Next, we have a Mood Board that is fit for any garden tea party wedding. We are scraping it back to basics with a completely natural colour scheme. After all, to some this is what a ‘real’ garden looks like, right?
Of course, it has to be stylish, unique and (fingers crossed) lovely weather to pull this one off. A back garden wedding wouldn’t be complete without banqueting style tables, plenty of the Pantone colour of the year thrown in and cutesy rustic accents.
If you are a natural garden lover, then this one will be easy for you. Think about growing some of your own plants, herbs or veggies to make for unique wedding favours that double up as styling and beautiful bouquets.
Can we also please just take a second to admire that cake. Isn’t it lovely? Your afternoon tea wedding should be filled with sweet treats, cupcakes galore and A ‘Naked Cake‘ would be the perfect addition to an understated chic wedding. It’s stripped back look is unique, yet looks delicious so appropriate for your back garden tea party.
For our final board, it’s all about foodie things, the teeny tiny details and yet again, more gorgeous styling and stationery.
A ‘Typically British Tea Party’ usually consists of three things; plenty of cakes, tea, and vintage accents, including fine hand painted china. If you are a lover of all things vintage, then this too could be the perfect way to celebrate your wedding, in style.
If you are into all things D.I.Y then think about hosting your very own ‘Bake Off’ and invite people to bring their very own bakes and cakes. Macaroon towers, gooey brownies, cupcakes, blondies and cookies are of course, an essential. All that’s left to do is provide cups of tea by the gallon and make sure there is plenty of the pink Prosecco to go around too. Isn’t that standard for a tea party? Delish.
Collect vintage china, choose beautiful calligraphy and you are all good to go!
As always, I would love to know your thoughts on today’s feature. Did you have a tea party inspired wedding, perhaps you have some tips you would like to share with Brides and Grooms-to-be planning their special day? Do let us know in the comments section below.
Have a lovely day and we will catch up with you all tomorrow. Have a cake, or two on me…
