The Beauty Bible: Jennifer Jane Interviews Leading Celebrity Hair Stylist, Nicky Clarke on Bridal Hair, Trends and Trials
Good morning, beauties! We are so delighted that you have reached our little corner of the internet today for our guest feature from the crazy talented Jennifer Jane Makeup Artist. We have been lucky enough to have had Jenn write features for us previously on topics ranging from how to create the perfect sultry smokey eye, and how to achieve gorgeous glowing makeup, but when this interview pinged into my inbox, I just couldn’t wait to share it with you all!
Why I hear you ask? Well, Jenn had the wonderful job of interviewing renowned celebrity hair stylist, Nicky Clarke (!) on all things bridal hair, trials and trends which for some Brides is a huge unknown. So, why not take inspiration from the very best in the industry, relax with a steaming cup of tea and take notes on Jenn’s interview with Nicky Clarke below?
What things do you need to consider when selecting the perfect style for the big day?
“I think its very important to get the whole picture. Certainly what you are wearing has to come as paramount. In terms of the kind of dress you are wearing, that will dictate which sort hair style you go for.”
How important is it to have a trial in the run up to your wedding and how far in advance would you suggest to have it?
“I think it is really important to have a trial, you don’t want any major surprises on the day. Have at least one, a couple of months before, not only because your ideas might be slightly different your hairdressers ideas, but I think it is just better on the day, they can run through the proper order of things which is key as well, not just the end result but also the structure and the way it is done.”
What would be your top tips for brides on how to prepare themselves for the big day
“I think there is a number of top tips. I certainly think you need to get as much done as possible, in terms of making sure your hair is cut, coloured and conditioned in time for the big day, and for most people there are months and months to prepare for that. Whether you are growing it into a certain length, or you are having it coloured a certain way, don’t do any major surprises a few days before. However having said all of that, there are always hair pieces and extensions that we all use in order to enhance that look even further.”
What trends are you seeing for this wedding season?
“Trends on wedding hair are really quite broad, it really is dictated by the dress. Whether or not someone is going for a hippy wedding in a forest or on a beach or whether its a very chic sophisticated affair with a column dress that’s very elegant and requires a chignon, or whether it is a full on meringue with a half up half down do, or a combination of any of those, I think those are the things are are going to dictate much more than what a trend season by season is.”
