Jonathan & Rofelyn… A Pastel Yellow Wedding at Goldsborough Hall
Happy Saturday! I hope you are all tucked up nice and cosy on this not so lovely blustery day. We are posting today as we have another extremely beautiful real wedding to share with you all, one too that will most definitely inspire you to have your very own pretty pastel day. Forget the weather outside, we have just the thing to brighten up your day and get you thinking all things Spring.
The gorgeous Jonathan and Rofelyn said their “I do’s” at St John The Baptist in Knaresborough, then headed over to the breathtaking Goldsborough Hall. Damian from DJB Photography captured their very special day perfectly. If you like what you see (and, why would’t you?) do pop by and see Damian tomorrow at our luxury wedding fair at Goldsborough Hall, we are open 12-3pm and entry is free for everyone! We know you will just fall in love with the perfectly manicured gardens and opulent architecture that the Hall offers. Oh, and the super talented suppliers too.
Plus, please do take a moment to appreciate just how gorgeous Rofelyn’s dress is, total envy right there!
Tell us a little bit about how you both met and how long you’ve been together. What made you fall in love?:-
“We met at a mutual friend’s birthday celebration in 2011 whilst we were both living in Singapore. We arranged to go cycling the following weekend on a nearby island, during which we got to know each other and we realised we shared a lot of common interests and had a similar outlook on life. Over the coming weeks we went on several more dates and then became a couple in August 2011.”
How was the inevitable question popped, where and who by:- “Jonathan ‘popped’ the question on the banks of Loch Lomond on our 4th wedding anniversary.” What excited you about getting married and the planning process, what was the first thing you booked?:-
“The most exciting aspect was the knowledge that we were planning a celebration of the start of our married life together. It was exciting when people confirmed that they would be able to make it.
We did set ourselves a very short planning time frame so it was very hectic and we probably put additional stress on ourselves as a result.
The first thing we arranged was Goldsborough Hall.”
How did you plan your wedding, what parts of the wedding were more important to you and why:-
“Due to trying to plan the wedding in such a short time frame, we relied heavily on Goldsborough Hall’s recommended suppliers, but found each company easy and a pleasure to deal with.
For us, the part of the wedding that was most important was inviting the guests who we wanted to share our special day with. In our opinion spending time with close friends and family really made the day. Also arranging the wedding dress and the venue were very important as they are the things that people really notice and we wanted to be exactly right.
Choosing the right photographer was important so that we could have a great record of our special day.”
Tell our readers about your wedding venue, where is it and why you chose it?
“We chose Goldsborough Hall (after looking at 5 possible venues), primarily because the Hall felt very grand, but also intimate and friendly. We found the staff to be very accommodating and helpful. Due to the fact that we had the place to ourselves and there is not a wedding there every day, it made it feel very special.”
Can you tell us about your Day, did you have a theme and what made it so special?
“Our wedding day started with a Wedding Blessing at St John The Baptist in Knaresborough, during which we said our own vows. We proceeded to Goldsborough Hall in a 1950’s Rolls Royce and were provided with a glass of champagne for the journey. We were given a very warm welcome by Goldsborough Hall on our arrival. This was followed by photographs in the grounds, a Wedding Breakfast, a video diary so each guest could leave a message and a disco.
It was a wonderful day and we were very lucky with the weather, but what made it really special was having all of our close friends and family together.”
Where did you get your wedding dress and why did you choose that designer or style? Tell us more about the bridesmaids, groom and usher outfits and what brought them all together?
“Rofelyn bought her dress in Singapore. It was designed by a local designer from Di Gio Bridal. Rofelyn loves French lace and worked closely with the designer on all of the details to make the dress exactly how she wanted it.” Sorry ladies but this one’s a one off!
“We chose pastel yellow for the colour scheme with the Bridesmaids in a long chiffon dress and the Ushers in grey tails with matching pastel yellow cravats.”
If you had the chance to do it all again and you could change one thing, what would it be and why?:-
“After the Wedding Breakfast we felt we had too many function rooms accessible (Drawing Room, Library and Orangery). This meant that guests were spread out and people missed key parts of the day such as the cake cutting and first dance. Our recommendation would be that only 2 function rooms at most are used.”
If you were to give other Brides and Grooms three top tips, what would they be and why?
“Our top three tips would be:
1. Give yourself plenty of time to plan the wedding (not less than 6 months) and get key items such as wedding dress, venue, photographer, flowers, cake and guest invitations arranged very early in the process (people book their summer holidays very early).
2. If you are getting married in a church, use the church flowers as table decorations.
3. The day passes extremely quickly, take time out during the day, just the two of you, to absorb the atmosphere and see people having fun.”
A huge congrats to Jonathan & Rofelyn, we wish you all the happiness in the world, and thank you to you both for letting us shade your very special day. Also a big thank you to DJB Photography for sending us across this gorgeous wedding! We will look forward to seeing you tomorrow at Goldsborough Hall.
