Crystal & Marc: An Indian and Australian Fusion Wedding for an Elegant and Relaxed Celebration
Hello, gorgeous ones. I hope that you’re well and that the working week has set off on the right foot so far, how are you this early Tuesday morn? I’m writing this weeks real wedding from a chilly office and never have I wanted to travel somewhere to the sun and warmer climates as much as I do now. Newly-weds, Crystal & Marc tied the knot at Glen Erin at Lancefield on the 7th of January 2017, a sunny summer’s day a stones throw away from Melborne, Australia.
Their day sure is a beauty and one too, that their photographer, Darin Collison captured perfectly. From the pretty maids’ all dressed in white to the gorgeous suits that the men don and the elegance of a Champagne tower; we loved how the couple opted for things that they adored in a relaxed and informal celebration of their love.
So, without further adu, I’ll pass it over to the gorgeous Crystal with more details of their very precious (and pretty) wedding day.
The two first met during an afternoon of lawn bowl in Sydney and then a year later at a friend’s birthday in Melbourne. Marc proposed at the esteemed Atlantic restaurant in Southbank with only a diamond to give his future wife creative freedom with the setting (aww!). Picturing a relaxed and elegant wedding, they celebrated late into the night at their reception and ceremony venue, Glen Erin at Lancefield.
We asked Crystal how she met Marc and how he went on to ‘pop the question’…
“Initially at a lawn bowls afternoon in Sydney and then a year later at a friend’s birthday in Melbourne. He took me out to dinner to Atlantic in Southbank and proposed there. He proposed with just the diamond without a setting which I loved as it allowed me to get a little creative! Jenny from Top Image Jewelry helped me with the setting and I get compliments on her work ALL the time.”
Beautiful bride, Crystal got ready with her nearest and dearest before heading to the alter to meet the love of her life. Her dress, well what can we say other than being absolutely drop-dead-gorgeous, suited her and her wedding to a T. It was in fact the second dress that she had opted for, as she had already brought her gown but then fell in love with Catherine of Catherine R Couture’s gowns.
“I had actually already bought a dress and then met Catherine in passing and asked her to alter it for me. When I went to meet her and saw all her amazing gowns I knew she had to make me a custom dress. We discussed what I liked and what I wanted in a dress, and she created magic! I wanted something quite different but still something suitable for a really hot day.”
The bridal look was complete with a pair of nude shoes and jewellery that was her ‘something borrowed‘ from her mum and best friend. We adore how bride Crystal and her maids’ looks complimented each other, don’t you agree?
Crystal’s already gorgeous face was made up by Nadine Muller Makeup, a renowned makeup artist who had also made up the faces for the likes of Ed Sheeran, Hozier and Grace Sewell (!). Finally, her bridal locks were styled by Tori Pitts from Organika Hair, a company that believes in using the very best toxic free products, for healthier locks and health. They sure did look luscious.
One piece of advice that we always recommend to brides in our ‘beauty bible‘ is to invest in good-quality skin care staples and a regime and Crystal did just that;
“I ensured my skin was prepped for the day by having regular treatments with the ladies at Clinica-Lase. These included chemical peels, laser genesis, LED light therapy and some oxygen facials closer to the day. I would recommend all brides to invest in their skin prior to the big day so a much more natural makeup finish can be achieved.”
Groom, Marc’s suit was sourced from Calibre, Australia’s most respected, leading men’s fashion brand and considered as a pioneer in Australia’s fashion landscape. The smart groom and his groomsmen wore matching suits which were perfect for the hot summers day and looked effortlessly stylish.
With the guests sat in their seats, the groom and the groomsmen in place at the end of the aisle and waiting, the bridesmaids and flower girls made their way down the aisle, looking cute as ever, may we add!
Bride, Crystal was walked down the aisle by her father. We adore how well their photographer captured these precious ceremony moments, moments in which I’m sure the newly weds and family will treasure for a long, long time.
The couples venue, Glen Erin at Lancefield allowed Crystal and Marc to have the country, relaxed and informal wedding of their dreams, not only using the lovely outdoor space to host their ceremony and make way for their 100 guests, but too, giving them use of the stylish suites indoors as well.
A quirk that we love, love, love about the venue is that it has a vineyard and all of the details already needed for a rustic and perfectly styled wedding. Crystal and Marc opted for the dreamiest white flowers to match their elegant colour scheme from Jenny Burke Florist, an award winning florist.
On another note, Crystal’s wedding gown also looked pretty paired with their matching white blooms.
The beautiful bridesmaids gowns were sourced from India and were actually handmade especially for the wedding, this really tied together the nods to Australian and Indian culture throughout their day, which I’m sure you will agree is something really and truly special.
The couple continued to style out their day but add fun little touched and elements such as a cutesy Bubbly Bar, Champagne tower, dainty wedding favours and personalised place settings.
We asked Crystal if there were any DIY elements to their wedding; “No to be honest. We were so time poor that we really did have to outsource everything.”
The pairs vision of the day was a “Relaxed, elegant and minimalist” one, of course they pulled it off! To match their colour scheme, place names and menus were sourced from BWedding Invitations, and they’re ruddy gorgeous!
The invitations from the day were from Adorn Invitations, we’re sure they were just as special, too.
“We decided not to have a cake but had a champagne tower instead”
For the evening-do Crystal’s favourite girls changed into some sleek and stylish white numbers that were purchased from Sheike. Stunning!
Bride. Crystal told us that her favourite moment of the day was the feeling in the reception room, celebration the goings on of their wedding;
“To be honest I just LOVED all of it but my favourite moment would have to be the electrical feeling in the room at the reception. Having all our most favourite humans in one room having the best time celebrating…you just can’t beat it.”
The couple let us know their advice for a healthy and happy marriage, “Laugh always!!! Life can get challenging and it’s so important to take a step back and not take life all too seriously.”
As we finish this loveliest real wedding, we are sharing Crystal’s pearls of wisdom for other couples planning their weddings;
“Don’t sweat the small stuff. We intentionally made sure that we had a really laid back approach to the whole wedding and lived in the moment. I truly believe that is what created an absolutely perfect day for us and all our guests.”
We then asked if there would be one thing that she would change her reply simply was “Make it last longer!!!!” which we adored, as it puts it into perspective that you can spend a fortune and plan as much as possible but it’s one day and as much as you want that to be special, you should enjoy it and celebrate the love that surrounds you, your marriage and family.
