Ciara & Tim: A Vintage & Glamorous Wedding with Rustic Accents for a Sottero & Midgley Bride
Oh, hello loves! I hope that you’re all wrapped up warm on this icy and way (way!) too cold Tuesday – has the ‘beast from the East’ caught up with wherever you may be today? In better and more beautiful news, you have landed on the lovely wedding of Ciara and Tim and, boy, it’s a total beauty! Let us transport you to the sunny Australia, the date being the 22nd of November, 2016 where the two tied the knot in the best way possible, surrounded by their most loved, on a day that presented them and was fun, quirky and glamorous.
We’re delighted that Darin Collison Photography has once again captured this day for us; we adore his style and how he captures raw, evocative and beautiful memories as the appear, leaving us with a wedding story that is full of emotion.
So, without further adu, I’ll pass it over to the now husband and wife, Ciara and Tim.
The two met at an 18th birthday party as Tim played football with a couple of Ciara’s friends, meaning he already had the seal of approval from them! “Tim played footy with a couple of friends of mine and we were invited to a team mates 18th birthday.“
He proposed one Valentine’s Day at home over breakfast and amidst some stressful home renovations and DIY projects, it was the perfect surprise! “We had just finished laying the merbau on our deck. We have done a lot of DIY at home during our renovations.“
The two celebrated with their most loved ones at Gum Gully Farm (Australia), with their hearts set on a floral-filled and vintage styled wedding.
Bride, Ciara don a beautiful gown Champagne and embellished gown, by one of our favourite designers, too! “It was a Sottero and Midgley gown. Champagne in colour with crystals, beading and lace. Simple and Elegant. I thought I would go look at dresses then have it made. But this one was just what I wanted and I knew a really good dress maker who could alter it to fit perfectly.“
Ciara had her alterations completed by Heather Sellick Bridal Couture.
Ciara’s bridal look was completed with glamorous curls from Bree, a bold lip, dreamy shoes from Alannah Hill and some accessories that she sourced herself from Etsy, a jewellery maker based in Israel. It’s safe to say that we have all of the heart eyes over the brides choice of a birdcage veil, such a glamorous addition that tied the whole of her gorgeous look together.
The couples venue of choice was the Gum Gully Farm which was the perfect choice for their rustic wedding ceremony. The stunning property is located in the beautiful foothills of the Dandenong Ranges in Silvan South at the gateway to the Yarra Valley Wine Region.
The venue has plenty of accents that helped bring the couples vision to life; with hand made mud bricks, recycled timbers and a collection of old artefacts throughout, it really does create a warm and intimate wedding space.
The two open for some DIY elements in their wedding at both the ceremony and the reception “My mum, dad and bridesmaids all helped with bunting, table runners, table numbers and a few other pieces.”
Please, how dapper does the groom Tim look? His suit was a classic black one that in our opinions, looked perfect paired with his brides gown – super glamorous the pair!
Tim’s suit was brought from AndreJ Menswear and his wedding band sourced from Jewellery by Johan in the USA.
Pure emotion just shines through these images, we adore Tim’s face as Ciara made her way down the aisle surrounded by hay bales with her father.
Celebrant, Susan Daff conducted their personal ceremony. Her role as a celebrant is to help you plan your ceremony, deliver it with warmth and professionalism, which from the images we can definitely tell was the case. Ciara’s top tip for a healthy and happy marriage is “Communication, compromise and just having fun. Doing things we both enjoy together and apart.“
Beautiful blooms adorned the venue in pretty peachy pastels, light blues and classic white. Debbie O’Neil was the couples choice of florist and they certainly chose well, Debbie has had 25 years experience in the industry.
Ciara’s top ladies wore the prettiest vintage tea-length gowns in blue, these were handmade and embellished by Michelle De Lacey Dress Maker and complimented the colour scheme of the wedding so well.
The vision that the couple envisioned for the day was simply but beautifully; “Florals, vintage and relaxed atmosphere.”
We asked the couple what the favourite part of their day was, the reply; “The Reception. Being surrounded by all our family and friends there to celebrate us. And feeding the deer.”
Heading to the reception, the traditional wood and brick building was transformed into a wedding wonderland with twinkling fairy lights, dainty floral arrangements, bespoke love letters and the cake of dreams for a spectacular centrepiece. Chantilly cakes cooked and decorated their classic cake, an award winning cakery.
Menus & Place Cards were sourced from the lovely ladies from BWedding Invitations.
We asked the couple if you could do it all over again, what would you change? The answer simply, being, “Nothing!” – which of course, we LOVE! Their looked like such a fun-filled, floral fabulous and family orientated celebration that we just wish we could have attended.
Newly-weds and their family then partied the night away with the music played by Hitzone. And, to round up today’s gorgeous and glamorous real wedding, we asked newly weds Ciara and Tim if they had any tips that they could give to future brides? Their reply; “Organise all you can early as you can and do what you want not what family and friends want. After all it’s your and your future husbands day!“
A HUGE thank you once again to everyone involved for letting us share such a special day, including talented photographer, Darin Collison, for the full story; we’ve attached even more of the images for more wedding-day inspiration. For a full list of vendor credits, please see below.
