Happy Friday to our lovely Brides, Grooms, Suppliers and fellow readers! The countdown is on till summer officially starts and whilst the weather looks like it is still going to look rather dull over the weekend, we are thinking towards sunnier, warmer climates and the rather gorgeous care-free summer hairstyles that come with it.
It’s true that Brides can spend hours upon hours pulling their hair out (literally) trying to decide on a look that suits the gown, make-up and even the theme. So, for this week’s ‘Beauty Bible’ it’s all about pretty summer wedding hair inspiration and to get you all thinking lovely hair this Friday morn, we at The Wedding Affair we have picked our favourite summer wedding hairstyles to get you conjuring up images your very own…

The word “chignon” comes from the French phrase “chignon du cou,” which in nicer words means nape of the neck. (essentially a fancy low bun!). This bridal hair style features hair gently pulled back from the face and softly pinned low down on the neck. This style is absolutely perfect if you are not sure whether to commit to having your hair up, it is the perfect balance between having your hair up and down.
What we love about the chignon is that it manages to be both elegant and modern, which is a very hard combination to pull off. It suits many different bridal looks and allows brides to add their own personality easily, through headpieces, hair clips, flower accessories, veils and glamorous bird cages.
The Chignon is a timeless classic with brides as it suits any hair length and style of hair, there are hundred’s of variations of this hairstyle and best of all its easy, so whether you are doing your own hair or getting a stylist to do it for you, you can guarantee that this hairstyle will look gorgeous. How would you wear the Chignon, lovelies?

Long Luscious Locks
This ones for the ones blessed with lovely long locks…
With your long locks in great condition, whether softly waved, glossy or straight, it only takes the smallest of hair accessories to complete the look. A delicate Boho headpiece, fresh flowers and foliage or the simplest thin ribbon are perfect for that laid back luxe look. It’s one that we love, too.
If you’re willing to embrace a larger headpiece and don’t want to go down the veil route why not choose statement hair accessories? Show stopping, bespoke jewel-encrusted headpieces will be sure to wow your guests. Long hair can too be worn in summer months by pinning back pieces from the face, wearing floral crowns with bright pops of colour or, simply on it’s own.

Braids and Up-Do’s
Up-dos are not only practical, but they complete a delicate bridal look better than any other hairstyle. An up-do and a floor-length bridal gown are a traditional duo that brings out the grace and delicacy of the silhouette.
Perfect for hot, summer days, buns and up-do’s make a great summer wedding hair choice. Leave a little loose for more soft and romantic look or slicked back for a fresh fashion-forward style.
Messy French twists and unstructured up-dos just whisper romance. These looks are perfect for showing off wedding dresses with interesting back detailing (we’re a sucker for illusion backs) as well as being a practical style for the summer heat.
If you are looking for something to keep you cool on your summer wedding, why not opt for a French, fishtail, waterfall, dutch or milkmaid braid? They are the perfect summer hair style for keeping hair at bay on hot summer days. Personally, we LOVE braids, especially milk maid braids for a romantic yet oh-so unique look to your wedding day.
