The Beauty Bible: Kick-start Your Bridal Skin Care Regime!
At The Wedding Affair HQ, busy prepping for our luxury wedding fairs that will start in just over a week – The Wedding Affair at The York Marriott is the first amazing venue we will be at, and we are so, soo excited! Even though our last wedding show was back in late October, we are genuinely missing seeing so many happy brides, and grooms-to-be, and of course their family’s and friends. So, who will be joining us on the 22nd of January, 12-3pm at The York Marriott Hotel? Tickets are completely FREE!
So, you’re engaged! Congratulations! Perhaps you have just set a date for your special day, possibly booked some of your most important suppliers? No matter where you are in your wedding planning stage, whether you have only just got engaged, or just a few months away from your dream day. At some point you will want to start thinking about how to make your skin looking most flawless for your wedding. After all, you may be spending most of your day in front of a camera, and , we all know the key to flawless make-up starts with great skin…
To make January a little more bearable, here are our favourite tips as to how to get your skin looking photo ready, just in time for your big day! Of course, as always we would love to know what products you use, or how you personally get your skin in top tip condition – after all in these winter months we could all do with a bit of TLC, right?
Don’t Leave It Until Last Minute!
Don’t leave it until the last minute to think about your skin – the longer you have to correct any skin issues, the better! Using products that contain skin loving exfoliating acids, they will help to remove dead skin cells, which tend to build up and leave our complexions looking dull and lifeless. Removing this dead layer will leave your skin looking fresher and noticeably more radiant! A product I am loving at the moment is Sunday Riley’s Good Genes Treatment.
Good Genes works hard to un-do the damage caused by sunlight, acne, pollution and less-than-healthy lifestyle choices! Which we have all made in the past month! The magical blend of ingredients combine to plump fine lines, fight hyper-pigmentation, heal scar tissue and boost circulation – so skin looks smoother and even has a little glow to it too! Sounds perfect…
Food For Thought…
Start drinking green tea, preferably every day! Not only can this aid you with dry January, and give your body a detox, it can help contribute to weight loss – alongside a good diet and exercise regime, of course! – but did you know that many people swear by it? Green tea works fabulously as an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory. You can thank it’s nutritional properties for that! This contributes to brighten the skin and reduce acne.
Seeking other ways to improve your skin through the likes of food? Eat your greens! Super foods can give your skin the boost that it may be craving!
No matter what your skin type is – oily, dry, normal or a comb. It craves water. Sure, drinking water helps, but snacking on naturally hydrating foods like watermelon works too. Other super foods for your face? Try grapefruit, cucumbers, tomatoes and kale.
Remember, if you are dieting take a good multi-vitamin supplement as well. If you aren’t having the correct amount of nutrients that your body needs, it will show in your hair, skin and nails. Omega oils are great for your skin and body.
All About The Right Moisturiser…
Do you suffer with red spots and rough skin on your upper arms? This is a condition called keratosis pilaris. And, although it’s not curable, it can be kept under control by using a moisturiser containing glycolic acid or salicylic acid on a daily basis in order to reduce redness on the day. We love… Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Lotion.
Invest in a good moisturiser for your wedding, and trust us, it will make all the difference! Not only can a good moisturiser provide you with essential moisture (obviously), but they can also keep acne at bay, prevent ageing, and work as an essential barrier to protect skin from weather and pollution. Keep your skin looking radiant and youthful as ever with Clinique’s Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion!
Stay Safe With SPF…
If you’re getting married abroad or in the summer. Or, taking a much needed stress free holiday before the wedding? Make sure you wear a high SPF every day, starting from at least a month before the wedding. Don’t risk sunbathing – you don’t want to get married looking like a lobster! Even if you do tan rather than burn, you may be left with unsightly strap marks that will spoil your wedding photos, so keep reapplying that sun cream like clockwork.
To avoid any fake tan disasters on the big day, book yourself in for a professional spray tan the day, or two before and you’ll be a lot less likely to end up with any streaky patches. Make sure you have a trial tan beforehand to make sure the colour suits you and to avoid any chance of a reaction!
