The Beauty Bible: Blusher Babes
Hello, beauties! We’re delighted to welcome you back to our pretty little corner of the internet! I do hope that you’re well and looking forward to the weekend? Today, we’re talking beauty in the best kind of form, blush.
Come winter — when your skin inevitably loses its glow, you’ve said “Buh Bye” to your natural glow and you could do with about 20 (+) new facials for a perkier complexion – a good blush can be your new best friend. Whether it arrives in a cream, powder or stick form, the perfect shade may just be the antidote you need for pasty pale winter-time skin.
A quick look around beauty counters, a flick through a magazine (or three) and a venture around in our make-up bags has revealed our most beloved blushes that have been tried and tested by The Wedding Affair & Wedding Hour HQ.
Lets take a look, lovelies…

We are crushing over just about anything and everything to do with Dandelion Dew Liquid Blush. A Benefit Cosmetics favourite in pretty packaging and a smooth-seamless formula that’s perfect for fair skinned lovelies this winter.
This sheer, baby-pink blush gives cheeks a dewy, delicate and healthy glow. Its lighter-than-air liquid texture melts in for a natural blush look that’s so soft and radiant you’ll look lit from within. It’s creamy, easy to blend and in our opinions, is the perfect little bottle of radiance that every girl needs.
NARS ‘Orgasm’ Blush
This little beauty is listed as a cult-classic for a reason, you know?
‘Orgasm’, famed in the beauty industry not only for it’s stand out name but too, for it’s golden glitter pigmented blush. This NARS blush is a happy medium between warm peach and petal pink and infused with the perfect amount of shimmer; It can double as a highlighter on darker skin tones, but isn’t too intense for the paler end of the spectrum. Hey, if it looks good on my skin, it can look good on anyone’s.
MAC Cosmetics Crystal Glaze Gloss
An ultra-moisturising tinted gloss in a jar that transforms any lip colour with a glossy shine. Not only is this great as a moisturising glaze for you lips, but it too looks amazing used for a glossy eye colour, or a pop of colour on the cheeks. Combine with pigments from other blushes, bronze’s or shadows and release the inner make-up artist in you (we are sure everyone has one!).
Our favourite hue of them all? MAC Crystal Glaze Gloss in ‘Nice Cheeks‘; described as a warm brown with a sheer finish. It’s the perfect pretty peachy colour to compliment natural make-up with a sheer flush of colour on the cheeks, lip or eye.
Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge
This multi award-winning Bobbi Brown blusher is a real industry favourite. There’s still the classic formula, for a natural glowing enhancement, but now it’s in a super handy mirrored compact – perfect for your bridal clutch, may I add.
Remember to moisturise well, then prime skin before applying if you are going for a fresh faced no foundation look, or simply blend over fresh foundation for an even finish.
Clinique ‘Chubby Stick’
This cute Cinique clutch babe has an ultra-creamy formula and a mistake-proof cheek colour that creates a healthy-looking glow in an instant.
What’s best is that this product doesn’t slip of skin (we can thank it’s oil-free formula for that), it’s simple to apply with the stick as you can swipe to add contours, or dot Clinique Chubby Stick Cheek Colour Balm onto apples of cheeks for an easy-breezy application. Using your fingertips is key you can blend along cheekbones and layer to build colour.

BECCA x Chrissy Teigen Glow Face Palette
For those of you that have lost that golden summer glow, you’re going to love this palette brought to you by Becca Cosmetics and California-cool beauty, Chrissy Teigen.
This lush palette that I had the pleasure of testing out a couple of weeks back just had to be added to my list of blusher babes, as that’s what it really is; your ultimate endless summer glow in a palette. A limited-edition glow face palette created with shimmering silk textures, liquid like yet powder formulas and the ultimate set of colours to pair beautifully for your wedding day. Oh, and with no cakeyness, may I add?
It’s not as compact as the rest of the blushes I have recommended, but thankfully it comes in super-chic packaging with a handy little go-to mirror.
