The Beauty Bible: Victoria Beckahm X Estee Lauder. The Wedding Affair’s Autumn Favourites.
I hope you’re all looking forward to the weekend ahead. What are your plans, loves?
I’m SO excited as we’re starting wedding fair season on Sunday (yep, just 2 day’s time!) where we will be at the city chic York Marriott Hotel for a faaabulous fair with the loveliest of people. And, whilst we’re frantically dashing around tidying up table plans and over-drinking coffee I do have to remember to check my social media more as London Fashion Week kick’s off today, which is always my absolute favourite time to swoon at the new collections and dreamiest make-up trends.
With it being this week’s edition of The Beauty Bible, I thought it was only right to write about one of the dream boat collections that we are crushing over for this season’s hottest make-up.
The latest celebrity beauty launch to come from Estee Lauder was a collaboration with Victoria Beckham. In this collection, VB has launched a capsule Makeup Collection comprising of 14 products, exquisitely packaged, inspired by her favourite cities, London, Paris, Miami and New York. I’ve long been a fan of Estee Lauder products and it’s a brand I trust, so I was eager to see what VB brought to the table…
Let’s begin with the packaging, it is very luxe, as you would imagine. The general theme throughout the collection is gold and black, complete with gorgeous leather ribbing on the weighty compacts. The collection has a timeless feel, that feels very special to hold, and special to use (ahem, is your wedding make-up calling?).
Let’s talk about the Makeup...
There are luminous skin perfectors, colourful eye-shadow quads, black chunky eyeliners, shimmering highlighters, matte lipsticks – the products cover all bases and pair perfectly. Several favourites from the original launch, including the radiance-boosting Morning Aura Illuminating Crème and the famed dewy look Eye Foils (more on them below), have made a comeback, but there is also plenty of newness. The collection in which, seems to sum up AW17 as a whole.
I mean, who can ever say no to a sparkling metallic smokey eye to complete an Autumn look? Or even for your Christmas parties (we are allowed to start talking about Christmas, right?).
For the bold and experimental, there’s the Black Cassis lipstick – a rich and sexy dark-blood hue – and an eye shadow palette in bright orange and deep cobalt. For those who like their make-up understated, there is a natural-looking highlighter range, plus a range of sunset, coral and nude lip glosses to make your lips pop.
The textures and formulations are faultless and aesthetically, Beckham has nailed it. I mean, would we expect anything less from such a stunning collab?
The eye-shadows are understandably the stand out from this collection…
For me, I will always get excited about eyeshadows, even though strangely enough, I tend to simple brown from my Anastasia Palette most of the time, but I love a good shadow. Eye Metals in ‘Bitter Clove‘ is a really different product for Estee Lauder, an intense metallic grey like shadow that can be tightly packed, or layered on top of other shadows to provide a sophisticated sparkle. Whereas the palette of shadow’s also has golden tones and the copper red make it perfect for Autumnal brides looking to dazzle as they walk down the aisle.
Of course, we have to talk about those eye foils too. From previous collections, people either loved or hated them. The foils are a liquid and then dry and stay-put, however some people just couldn’t work with the texture. I have to say, I’m a firm lover of anything that make’s life a little easier. So, these eye foils were great for me, one swipe and you have picture perfect VB eye’s. Use lightly for a little definition, or a little more applied makes for a sultry, smokey eye.
The Wedding Affair’s Verdict – It’s a beautiful capsule collection, 90% of which I think most women will want to own in its entirety. It’s Luxe, high quality, timeless and super-sophisticated. It reflects the VB brand, and you actually can believe that she created this line, which sometimes celeb’s just like to stick there name on a product.
And, for an autumnal/winter look? I don’t think you would need any other colours in your make-up bag. This collection has you covered on all bases!
What’s your favourite product from the VB X Estee Lauder collection? Would you be bold and use any of these on your wedding day? I’d love to know, say “Hello” in the comment’s section below, or pop an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org.
