Monday Moodboard… Beautiful Burgundy Autumn & Winter Wedding Colours…
Since I am in such a festive mood at the moment, and we sure you are too? With nearly one month to go (!) we thought it was time we started bringing the festive mood boards back out. Ok, we get it may be a little early, but todays Mood Board actually will pair with a wedding any time of the year, so whether you are having a Winter, Autumn, Spring, or Summer affair, we think that this will just pair wonderfully.
Burgundy or cranberry is a lovely Autumnal colour for a wedding, suggesting a feeling of warmth and calm (well, so we think!). Although a very powerful colour with many shades to choose it can be used very effectively to contrast with many lighter colours associated with weddings such as off whites, creams and ivory’s. Want to add a touch of glamour? Burgundy and gold pairs fabulously, or perhaps you would like a softer look… whites pair beautifully!
Used carefully it can be complemented very nicely with deep purple’s such as plums and, in fact a huge variety of colours. This is because it’s a very rich colour, it can be overpowering if used too much, so it is good to mix up the palettes a little… take inspiration from today’s mood board’s!
Bringing burgundy into your wedding can be done in the simplest of way’s… there are so, so many beautiful bridesmaids dresses out there that are in this colour, or similar. Dresses we just adore are the Two Birds dresses, we love the way that your bridesmaids will be able to wear them differently to mix up the look, and if they are different shapes and sizes, then can be worn to whatever they find comfortable, aren’t they just stunning?!
Bridesmaids dresses can be completely burgundy or a lighter colour with a burgundy or cranberry sash/ belt with shoes to match, for lighter accents of the colour.
Burgundy is also a colour very easy to bring into the Groom’s attire by adding to their buttonhole, tie, handkerchief or waistcoat, we love to see a groom’s suit in tweed with hints of burgundy!
Floral arrangements can easily be broken up or complimented with light pinks, olive greens and silver or gold. For a stunning rustic look, we love bright burgundy floral paired with green, plum’s and cream’s. Opt for ‘wild’ looking flowers. A large, even messy looking bouquet will look simply gorgeous. We feel that Jenny Packham dresses will go perfectly with a rustic wedding. Her stunning champagne and ivory dresses look wonderful paired with burgundy floral’s.
For a more formal floral look we adore burgundy, or plum, even deep red flowers put together in a tight bouquet. Opt for flowers such as roses or hydrangea, they will look ever so beautiful!
For florists, your first point of call should be our luxury wedding supplier directory! We have some of the most talented from Yorkshire and beyond.
One of my favourites is the multitude of options you have when it comes to centre pieces and table/ venue styling. Anything from a single glass with a floating candle along with cranberries (perfect for your winter wedding!). To abundances of large floral’s, arches and floral back drops, to burgundy table cloths, and beautiful props.
