Approved By The Wedding Affair: Beech Hill Hotel… A Lakeside Retreat
This morning we are recapping on a lovely stay that we had, where The Wedding Affair went to visit the absolutely stunning Beech Hill Hotel, located in the heart of England’s beautiful Lake District National Park. The Beech Hill Hotel is set into the hillside on the Easten bank of Lake Windermere, nestled away from any bustling city life; It makes for the perfect picturesque escape for Brides and Grooms seeking relaxation, luxury and some of the finest views of Lake Windermere. Which did you know, is Britain’s largest lake?
Before anything can I just say that with the hotel being in the most beautiful location, it makes for gorgeous picture opportunities. Venture into the gardens during summer for your drinks reception and photographs. Alternatively, head indoors where the cosy and traditional interior provides for something special.
Upon arrival you are greeted by the lovely lounge and log fire that awaits (perfect for winter weddings!). It’s the little details like these that really made our little stay all the more wonderful. Of course, after what felt like a long, long drive, the first thing you want to do is kick of your shoes and sink into the hotel beds. I don’t think there’s any feeling that beats that when staying in a Hotel.
From the hotel, you will find the most gorgeous, panoramic views of the lake. We were lucky enough to have a spacious deluxe room that overlooked the lake.
Thankfully, for most of our lovely stay we were blessed with some gorgeous sunshine and hot weather that meant it was beautiful to sit outside with a drink or take a venture into the local villages, Bowness-on-Windermere and Newby Bridge. However, it’s hard not to love the lake even when it’s raining; the views were still something spectacular.
Because The Beech Hill Hotel is built into the hillside over seven levels, it means that the majority of their rooms have lake views and lead out onto terraced gardens that are perfectly manicured gardens, or private balconies. Of course, not many hotels can boast such impressive settings and the addition of having balconies really does make the hotel all the more special.
One thing we would say, is that it would have been much nicer if the room had air-con. Been in the summer heat definitely took it’s toll on us!
Of all the events in life there is probably not much more memorable and significant than your wedding day. The Beech Hill provides all of the ingredients, adding individuality and charm to your special day. Their professional, caring staff are on hand at all times, and promise to make your wedding day simply perfect.
The beautiful Burlington’s function suite will be the setting for your ceremony, It can seat up to 120 guests. We were told that it has gorgeous floor to ceiling windows that overlook the lake. Unfortunately, we did not get a chance to go and take a look at the Burlinton’s suite. However, i’m sure it would be lovely.
The Beech Hill Hotel wedding coordinators are also able to assist you with music, readings and room decoration during your ceremony.
The hotel has an absolutely outstanding restaurant, in fact it’s award winning for both food and their service. Upon the first night, we were greeted, handed over menus and took a seat on the sofas in the lounge whilst we decided on what we ate (a very hard decision, indeed). We were then given some of the tastiest Canapes and enjoyed a drink before our order was taken and were escorted through to our table.
We could not fault the food or the service we received in the restaurant. I guess, if you are someone who is a lover of fine, award winning food, impeccable service and lake side views, then these boxes are all already ticked for your special day.
The evening reception actually takes place in their beautiful restaurant and offers a private bar, dance floor, and buffers and staging, if required. Again your personal wedding coordinator will be happy to help when it comes to booking any entertainment on your behalf, and can provide sample CD’s for all singers and bands.
(P,S – How delicious does that Afternoon Tea look?! I so which we could have tried one of them.)
Tying the knot at Lake Windermere is nothing short of exciting, there are endless possibilities and of course, lot’s to do, too. We took a boat trip around the lake, it’s lovely to have some down time and take in the surroundings that are so different what we are used to in Yorkshire.
Why not take a cruise on the Lake as a unique extra to your day? Following your drinks reception and photographs, you will be taken down to the hotel’s private jetty where you can take a 1 hour cruise. From the cruise, you will be able to enjoy the gorgeous views of the lake and The Beech Hill. It’s another great time to take photographs, enjoy a glass of something bubbly (or two!) and just relax.
Talking of relaxing, there’s nothing quite like having a relaxing day of pre-wedding pampering or a few treatments after the big day to help you unwind and take some well deserved down time with your loved one.
We were taken back by the facilities at the Spa. Not only does the spa overlook the lake, but it’s got everything a girl (or man) could ever wish for. Yes, they have an Outdoor Spa Pool, a Scented Garden, Himilayan Sauna, an aromatic Steam Room and two luxury spa treatment rooms. Oh, and an indoor pool, too.
Why not take a read of their Spa Treatment Menu? The four-star hotel offers deluxe massages, skin therapy, beauty treatments and a large selection for the gentlemen, too.
Overall, we had a lovely few days stay at the hotel. It’s the perfect escape and you will be sure to find lot’s to do. Whether you are wining and dining in the hotels award winning restaurant, having a pampering in the spa or venturing out to have a stroll by the lake and near-by villages.
It’s the ultimate venue for a lake-side wedding, with picture perfect views and accommodating staff.
