Adriana & Andrew: A Winter-Styled Winery for a Glamorous & Gorgeous Wedding with Rustic Accents.
Happy Tuesday, lovely readers. Can you believe that it is Valentines tomorrow? It seems that it was only yesterday that we were planning all the pretty goings on for last year; I do wonder how many of you will be planning popping the question tomorrow over a romantic candle-lit dinner or cosy night in for two. One love story that we’re sharing on the blog is of the gorgeous couple, Adriana and Andrew. The couple exchanged rings and their “I Do’s” at St Mary’s Star of the Sea before heading to their reception at the Stones of the Yarra Valley. With their hearts set on a winter-styled winery as their perfect evening, their wedding date was the 20th of September, 2016.
Today, we’re again sharing the beautiful work of Darin Collison, a photographer that focuses on capturing natural moments as they appear, using natural light and an unobtrusive style that really does make us love his work all the more. We’re also sharing Bride, Adriana’s words of wedded wisdom, her favourite parts of the day and a little about their overall ‘vibe’ of the day.
Take it away, Adriana…
The two met during their Christmas holidays on the beach in Mornington Peninsula through mutual friends. During a romantic weekend away, Andrew proposed at one of their favourite places – Teddy’s Lookout at Lorne.
“Andrew and I met through mutual friends, while we were both on Christmas Holidays, on the beach in the Mornington Peninsula. He proposed during a weekend away at my parent’s holiday house at Lorne, and after a very long and beautiful day of site seeing down the Great Ocean Road, Andrew proposed at one of our favorites places in Lorne at Teddy’s lookout.“
“The most important thing to me when I chose my gown was how I connected with the designer. I had a vision in mind, but it was up to the designer to lead me on the journey. Leah was laid back in her approach and not OTT, and that was super important to me. My dress was different, I hadn’t seen anything like it and I was so happy with the outcome.“
We totally agree with Adriana here, when this pretty and precious wedding pinged in our inbox I couldn’t take my eyes from her gown. It’s couture design, made by Leah Da Gloria was so fitting for their winter-time wedding; elegant, glamorous and well, just perfect.
A subtle smokey eye was the choice of makeup for the glamorous bride. Cassandra Lusi painted her pretty face and her bridal locks were looking luscious, all thanks to Rokk Ebony, a professional hair stylist based in Melborne.
Please, just how cute are the couples choice of Paige boys and flower girls? We adore how dapper the four looked, with matching bouquets and buttonholes from award-winning wedding florist, Blooming Brides.
The couples choice of ceremony venue, St Mary’s Star of the Sea, West Melbourne provided the ultimate back-drop to their wedding photographs.
“The gothic splendour of St Mary Star of the Sea evokes the grandeur of a cathedral.” We loved how the wedding naturally paired with it, from the pastel pretty hues of the blooms to the sparkling maids’ gowns and navy in the grooms suit.
There were smiles all round as the couple made their way back down the aisle and husband and wife, including one sleepy face too. More magical moments, perfectly captured by their photographer, Darin Collison.
We asked the couple how to keep a healthy and happy marriage, Adriana’s response is one that we had to share:
“I have only been married for a short time now, but Andrew and I have been together for many years. I would say that the most important part of maintaining a strong relationship would be to never take yourself or your relationship too seriously and don’t forget to have fun.“
“I had always envisioned my wedding day to be a laid-back type of glamourous styled one. A winter style winery was perfect for this, and Stones of the Yarra Valley nailed that brief. Stones can be anything you want it to be. Our hanging chandelier of florals with tea light candles, along with drooping fairy lights, really set the mood. There was an open fire pit outside the back doors overlooking the vineyard, it was perfect.“
Not only did the venue cater for all the teeny-tiny details and larger parts of the day, but it also provided the most gorgeous of settings for plenty of pictures, including weather-beaten remnants of a barn left idle for generations and delicious food and drink.
Of course, what else would be expected from a dreamy winery set in the countryside?
Adriana’s favourite ladies don glamorous dresses that matched hers wonderfully, the bride sourced these from Adriana Papell and proves how any wedding can look stunning in sequins.
The groom, Andrew’s suit was chosen from MJ Bale and i’m sure you will agree how the gents looked oh-so dapper in their matching outfits, complete with brown shoes and buttonholes.
“All in all, the team at Stones are amazing event coordinators. They prompt you with things that you haven’t even thought about in terms of décor… but some things that we added were fairy lighting, outdoor fire pit, bird cage for “wishing well” …. etc.“
Their cake also made for a spectacular centre piece, designed by Raymond Tan who has wowed us before with his delicious looking cakepops, artistic designs and eccentric flavours. Hey, his Instagram is one that you can stalk for hours on end, too!
Just look at that reception setting, we LOVE the rustic beams, twinkling fairy lights and larger than life trailing flowers. A Pinterest perfect wedding heaven!
Adriana’s favourite part of the day was a touching surprise that her now husband organised for her.
“Fireworks, of course. I’m a sucker for those big, bright sparkles in the sky, and Andrew knows this. Part way through Andrew’s speech, he surprised me and our guests with a show of amazing fireworks over the vineyard. It was magical.“
As the evening drew to a close, and the dance floor filled we asked the bride if there would be anything she would change; “I can honestly say, I wouldn’t change anything. Nothing is perfect but to us, our wedding day was stunning and most importantly, it was a huge celebration with friends and family, filled with love, laughter and of course, great food and wine.”
As we finish this gorgeous and glamorous real wedding, we are sharing the bride and grooms pearls of wisdom for other couples planning their weddings;
“Be organised – there is no fun in last minute stress sessions. In the last 6 months, set your ‘to do’ list and order it in priority. The highest priority items, set to action 6 months prior, and work the list backwards so that you have certain things to action, every month. Plan to have a blank ‘to do’ list two weeks prior, because things will pop up.“
