Metallic Wedding Cakes…
Metallic’s are undoubtedly big for stationery, styling and for wedding cakes as well. And, we are not just talking about a gold and silver vintage style, but much more stylised glam, art-deco, chic old-Hollywood look! Of course, the best part about metallic’s are that they can adapt to any style at all; delicate monogramming in gold feels ever so opulent, whilst geometric shapes give off a fresh, extremely modern feel.
If an entire tier is too much glitz for you, consider adding a little sparkle all over. Extravagant blooms to match the season, or how about a contrasting colour oozing down the side? (Pink may be an option?) Add a decorative sheen to your cake without overpowering the whole design!
Who’s loving these ones below? Not too fussy at all, yet they just scream elegance!
The Naked Cake…
Naked cakes are ever so popular, and there’s no surprise as to why. For today’s palette we bring you gorgeous, soft pastels and what we feel will be perfect for your spring/summer special occasion. Sure, there aren’t any fondant decals or buttercream ruffles, but you’ll be surprised just how many style options you have to choose from when it comes to this beautiful bare cake trend. The minimal design allows for a total blank canvas for fruit, and flowers, as well as a delicious flavor to become the main focal point of the dessert.
We are feeling pretty in pink with the cake on the top right – The Cake Parlour, London, really do know how to do naked cakes! A divine rich dark chocolate sponge with a delicious raspberry butter cream would be oh so suited to this pretty pink cake.
Seeking something slightly different for your naked cake? We are crushing over the cake in the top left. What’s not to love about blooms in abundance and a soft spring palette for you to use as your colour scheme?
Vintage Architectural Inspired Cakes…
For the brides and grooms-to-be that have a love for all things architectural why not take inspiration for your very own wedding cake? For a cake that is so, so unique take inspiration from the board below featuring cakes inspired by the 18th century, and exquisite stately homes.
We are a huge fan of the graceful geometric’s and detailing that is fine and spectacular. Subtle hinds of colour are used for a more natural effect – in contrast pops of gold and bright sugar flowers make for a real show stopping centre piece at your wedding!
Particular flavours that would be suited to this style of cake? How about a lovely carrot cake with a cream cheese frosting? Or, for the ones with a sweeter tooth? A sumptuous champagne, cream and strawberry cake would go down a treat, and really fits with the design of the cake too! Do you have any idea’s on flavours, let us know in the comments section below!
The Sugar Petal Cakes…
Undoubtedly one of the more popular styles of wedding cakes in 2016 were the sugar petal cakes, this is definitely a trend that will continue right through 2017. Typically a classic structure of what is expected for a wedding cake. These cakes can be suited to any type of wedding. Whether you are having an intimate affair, or a large party with 150+ people, these cakes not only look gorgeous with masses of tiers, but they look equally as stunning with one statement tier.
Take a look at the cake on the top right by the ever so talented Blossom Tree Cake Company – we really think less is more in this instance, taking inspiration from the Pantone colour of the year, greenery. We are swooning over this fresh focused cake, with plenty of foliage, and the best bit? It’s all edible! The style combined with their absolutely delicious flavour, passion fruit curd with a Madagascan vanilla sponge and a white chocolate butter cream will be just perfect!
