The Beauty Bible: Algenist – Bridal Beauty Must Haves
Hello everyone! I hope you are all well, even if this weather is shocking. Oh well, it is Friday and we have made it to the end of the week (finally!). Here’s hoping we will get at least a teeny glimpse of sun over the next couple of days.
As always, do let us know what you will be getting up to over the weekend, and if you’re saying your “I Do’s”, then congratulations! We’re sure you will have a beautiful day and sending you lot’s of love from The Wedding Affair.
For today’s feature we are of course looking to The Beauty Bible for yet another gorgeous brand that we were very kindly sent over from Algenist. After trying and testing these products over the past couple of week’s its fair to say that they are both wedding worthy, and in-fact perfect for everyday use; whether it be on the lead up to your special day, or just for your daily make-up routine.
If you read our blogs religiously, you will know that I’m a total sucker for luxurious skin-care products, and too, something that makes wearing make-up a little less on the heavy side. This is why I ADORE the 3 products that I will go into a little bit more detail below.
I can’t wait to tell you all about them…
First up, I decided to try the SPLASH Hydrating Setting Mist. As you will also know I LOVE setting sprays. MAC Fix + for years has been my holy grail go-to spray, purely for the fact I’ve never really known where else to look for one, other than my trusted MAC Cosmetics. I guess MAC will always hold a special place in my heart as this was the very first luxury make-up counter that I visited to get my first ‘big girls’ foundation. This is where I, quite firmly ditched Mabellines’ dream matte mousse (terrible, I know) and was introduced to a whole new world of gorgeous packaging and luxurious products. Safe to say my bank account hasn’t forgiven me since.
Anyhow, as you can imagine I was SO excited to try out this setting spray, as I’ve never ventured out of my comfort zone for long when it comes to them. I have to say I was a little sceptical, not only because of my love for Fix +, but too when I once nabbed some of my sisters setting spray, it left my skin feeling very dry and kind-off tight. Not what I wanted. The SPLASH Hydrating Setting Mist was very different from this. I first of all applied in the office, as a refresh and it was lovely, apart from the fragrance is a little weird, but the power this spray far out ways the scent. First application was good, however to get the true benefits I had to wait until the next day to apply my make-up again…
I used the Algenist setting spray just as I usually would. Both as a primer, then a little spritz after I have applied all my make-up. I feel that this always gives me make-up that stay’s put all day.
I was actually amazed at the results of using this setting serum. Not only does it give me make-up that doesn’t budge, but it also gave me that dewy look that I always want when applying make-up. It expertly removes the look of any powder on your skin, giving a seamless, gorgeous glow. It make’s your highlighter pop that little bit more and makes you feel like your make-up is your skin, it’s not heavy, cakey or drying. It’s wooonderful!
Brides, I would totally recommend you try out this lovely product, it works setting spray miracles that even MAC Fix + can’t achieve.
Next up, I was very kindly sent some of Algenist’s Luminizing Drops. I was also incredibly excited to try these out as I have never actually used a liquid highlighter before. Oh, boy are these something from a highlighter heaven (I’m adamant one exists). The colour/pigment payoff is insane.
The Pearl drops certainly match my skin colour much, much better than the Champagne drops. I mean, I would love the golden hue to work on me, but my pasty-pale skin just doesn’t make the cut, unfortunately. The pearl drops actually resemble a pearl, they’re shimmering drops of pinky-toned loveliness and are so flattering if you too, are like me and on the paler spectrum.
The Champagne drops, as touched upon above are so gorgeous too. However, much better for ladies with darker completions, or perhaps a tan. They certainly suited Lisa’s skin-tone more than mine. I’d best describe these drops as sunshine in-a-bottle. (Oh, and the packaging? Super luxurious.)
If you’re skin is a mixture of the two, then you can simply just mix the two together, or have a look on Algenist’s website where you will find even more glowing goodness.
To apply the highlighter to your face you can either use fingertips, a beauty blender, or a brush. I experimented with all 3 and can honestly say that I prefered using fingertips to apply to the face, then using a Laura Mercier fan brush to blend to desired look.
To apply, I simply put on the high points of my face. The cheekbones, cupids bow, tip of the nose, and a little on my chin. This really will accentuate your features for your wedding photo’s and make you look all kinds of beautiful.
I defiantly am going to try this mixed in moisturiser and foundation too for the look of a subtle healthy glow with added radiance.
